Ever since Rick Hahn referred to Eloy Jimenez‘s incomplete mystery checklist, Jimenez has taken it upon himself to let the jokes flow.
He dominated during a series in Pawtucket over the weekend, and he took it up a notch against Norfolk on Monday. He went 2-for-2 with a homer and two walks, including one of the intentional variety with runners on second and third.

Jimenez extended his hitting streak to 10 games, during which he is batting .583/.615/1.139 over 40 plate appearances. Yes, that’s a 1.754 OPS.
If you want to limit it to the post-checklist performance, he’s 9-for-14 with two doubles, two homers and three walks and zero strikeouts.
The Chicago Tribune has joined the Chicago Sun-Times in calling for Jimenez and Michael Kopech in Chicago.

Maybe Hahn just isn’t checking the box scores for Eloy…
Are we still doing “underrated”?
So kopech and shields both scheduled to start tonight. If shields is moved, do they bring him up to start? Or is that too short notice and they roll hector out there?
My guess is they would just have Santiago start tonight, then call up a replacement for Sunday.
Are the Sox trying to induce Jimenez and Kopech into signing multi-year deals before bringing them up a la Scott Kingery’s deal with the Phillies? That’s a good question for beat writers to ask Hahn (though of course he would deny it).
8 doubles. 8 dingers. 8 walks. Only 10 Ks. Eloy has just murdered AAA.
The distance he gets on his homers is Palka-esque, but his swing always looks so free and easy, whereas Palka’s swings are so violent they look like he could chop down a tree with one hack.
Unfortunately, logging aptitude is one of the check boxes.
Caleb Frare has an A+ anagram: Barf Cereal.
Nick Madrigal has swung and missed at 7 out of 190 pitches in his pro career so far, good for a 3.7% SwStr rate. Brett Gardner has the majors lowest swinging strike rate at 4%.
That’s pretty ridiculous
Can we get basabe or booker called up and some bullpen pitching (Hamilton’ Turner). Isn’t this the right time to learn on the job.
Call should get a shot before either of them. He should take Eloy’s spot in AAA right now.
