Write “pick up” or “decline” after the option.
Welington Castillo: $8 million/$500,000 buyout (buyout)

Try to retain, or let go?
Jose Abreu (made $16M in 2019) (resign @ 2yr/$25m)
Iván Nova (made $9,166,167 in 2019) (let go)
Jon Jay (made $4M in 2019) (let go)
Hector Santiago (made $2M in 2019 on split contract) (let go)

J.D. Martinez DH: (3yr/$70m w/team option)(24,24,22,22) Chicks dig the long ball.

Jake Odorizzi SP: (3yr/$39m) not sexy, not TOR, but this seems very Soxy.

Will Smith RP: (3yr/$32m)(12,10,10) bullpen needs a boost and Smith should handle that just fine.

Alex Wood SP: (1yr/$8m w/team option) I think Wood bounces back and has a solid year.

Collin McHugh SP/RP: (2yr/$5m) starts in bullpen and competes for openings in rotation as needed.

Jason Castro C: (2yr/$14m) a solid backup catcher and is a left-handed bat.

Corey Dickerson OF: (2yr/$8m) we need outfield/dh help now.

I think trades at this point will either be selling low or moving core pieces so I will hold off on moving prospects until further evaluation.

I think I ended up around $120 million or so and for the most part it was short term deals. Its time for Giolito, Kopech, and Cease to become one of the better trios in the league and anchor this rotation. Bullpen has a chance to implode but midseason additions can help there or possible in house additions could plug holes throughout the season.
