As many of you already know, on September 1st we lost Rob Warmowski, one of the most passionate members of our White Sox community. He was also my best friend. Around the blogosphere, he was mostly known for his insightful and always witty articles about the Sox (he went by IceColdFalstaff on South Side Sox, and @whitesoxski on Twitter). But he was much more than that. He was writing about topics big and small in the blogosphere before that was a word. He was a highly talented musician, songwriter and sound engineer. He was a geek when it wasn’t cool. He was a great friend. He was a deep thinker. He was the funniest person I ever met. He was exceptionally kind. He loved animals. He was discerning. He had a strong sense of justice. He was an atheist. He was an activist. He was almost always the smartest person in the room. He was humble. He was in pain a lot, but he never let you know. And now he’s gone.
Rob lived an unconventional life. He never would have wanted a funeral. He would have wanted a party. And that’s exactly what his widow, Maureen Sullivan (of the Bridgeport Sullivans), is throwing for him. The party will commence on Monday October 21st at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago. Doors will open at 5pm. Over 40 musicians will honor Rob’s musical legacy beginning at 6pm. All proceeds will benefit the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. This is a donation based event with a cash bar. If you want updates on lineups, just go check out Rob Warmowski on Facebook.

Finally, I have set-up a GoFundMe page to help his widow with expenses. She just lost the love of her life, but she also lost half of her family income and her health insurance. If you can afford it, please show her some love. You can find the memorial fund here: http://www.gofundme.com/f/rob-warmowski-memorial-fund
I hope to meet many of you at the Memorial Service.
