The remarkable aspect to the Mets’ circus is their TV outlet SNY is being candid and critical about not only the GM and manager, but ownership. This was true of the pre- and post-game shows yesterday, and during the broadcast Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez spent considerable time critiquing Callaway and pitcher Jason Vargas for attacking the media.

That’s about the only positive aspect to a situation that reminds me of Chris Sale shredding Mary Francis Veeck’s jerseys in 2016.

At least the difference between Mets and Sox media. This criticism would not happen on the YES Network with Yankees scandals; those broadcasts are as homer-riffic in their own way as Sox games when Harrelson was on the mike. The Mets are a terribly-run baseball team, but the leeway they give their broadcasters is remarkable.

It reminds me a little of how Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall used to grill the Sox, though Cohen’s style is more of polished prosecutor than angry guys at the bar.
