Honestly, in the aftermath of the 2012 Escobar trade if you had asked me if the Sox would re-acquire Escobar I would have said “yes” just based on all the positive things people in the org said about him.
So, we don’t know if it ends up working out or not, but we also don’t have any reason to believe that this is that different from many other “Kenny/Jerry gets his guy eventually” situations (Griffey, Pierre, TLR, etc). So from a process perspective it just doesn’t give me a lot of confidence that the Sox did their homework and decided that this was the best option.
