More Luis Robert highlights, including a few firsts

While Luis Robert went hitless in his Kannapolis debut, he knocked out a few of stateside firsts in his second game.

His first hit resulted in his first two runs batted in:

And then he came through with his first double. The right fielder initially broke in, then had to play it off the wall. It’s 330 to right field, but Hickory traditionally plays as a very hitter-friendly park.

Robert said after the game that he felt like barreled it, but didn’t know if he got enough because it was kind of a one-handed swing.

He also swiped third later in the game. From this question and answer, it sounded like the throw beat him, but he was able to stop his slide short, hoping the third baseman’s momentum wouldn’t allow him to keep a tag waiting for Robert.

Welp, looks like Jordan Stephens finally had a clunker. What happened there? Not a good day for Jordans, as Guerrero had a similar outing himself in Birmingham. I really hope another AA starter can make a case for advancement soon, because we REALLY need some reinforcements and fast. At least Adams is finally showing signs of turning it around this year.

Dane Dunning has been pretty good, if inconsistent. I am really hoping Spencer Adams has turned a corner with back to back great games.

I think Dunning will get a lot of play in Birmingham before getting maybe a late promotion to Charlotte. Adams, for his part, was a guy I was hoping would be forcing his way into Chicago by September, but the way he started the season he’ll need to really flip the script just to get promoted to AAA.

The RF in that Robert double video was playing about a step in front of the warning track pre-pitch.

And Hickory’s left fielder overran the ball on Robert’s first hit. Shaky single A defense.

Jordan Guerrero’s exit from the 40-man seems not so inexplicable these days….Maybe FO got one right?

He was never on the 40 man. They didn’t add him.

Thanks….How about “exclusion from”?

Adolfo out since the 3rd. Any reason?

Hope Basabe and Rutherford are breaking out of their slumps.

Aaron Bummer optioned south, flip-friendly Xavier Cedeno added to the 40-man and heading north.

Jose Rodriguez (DSL 17 year-old middle-infielder) had another three hits today.

Now hitting .500 and only 1 K on the young season.
