White Sox Minor Keys: June 22, 2018

Dylan Cease. (Jim Margalus / Sox Machine)

With the second half of the minor league season underway, both Baseball America and MLB.com updated their top 100 prospect lists.

Dylan Cease jumped more than anybody. He’s back on BA’s board at No. 100 after falling off the list before the season, giving the Sox six prospects in the mix. He rose even higher on the MLB list. Jim Callis and Co. were the highest on Cease entering the season, and now he’s jumped even further, going from No. 52 to No. 43.

Dane Dunning also jumped six spots on the latter list to No. 56, and Zack Collins came from off the board to establish himself at No. 99.

The Sox now have eight prospects on MLB.com’s list — Eloy Jimenez (4), Michael Kopech (12), Luis Robert (26), Cease (43), Alec Hansen (49), Dunning (56) and Blake Rutherford (85) preceding Collins (corrected). I’m guessing that number will remain the same after the most recent crop of draft picks are added, with Collins getting bumped out by Nick Madrigal, among others.

  • Lency Delgado went 2-for-5 with a double, walk and strikeout.
  • Harvin Mendoza, 2-for-5 with a double.

  • Cabera Weaver, 1-for-3 with two walks.
  • Jacob Cooper: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K

More:

*The White Sox only have one AZL affiliate when other teams have two, but sometimes clubs stretch the definition:

*Mitchell also said Delgado meets his draft-day description thus far: “Really impressed with AZL #Whitesox SS Lency Delgado. Strong build, good stroke, uses all fields, a cannon for an arm.”

So many prospects reached base three times or more yesterday.

Booker’s so hot I’d be tempted to throw him in Chicago to see how long it would last before major-league pitching adjusted to him.

evenyoudorn

We can call him Bookham!

Eagle Bones

This reminds me of that time KenWo wanted to bring Hawkins north after he had a hot spring. That was fun.

Partially a comment on the Sox’ OF merry-go-round this year, and partially a reality-show idea. “Exactly how long can the 24-year-old freshly promoted to AA handle major-league pitching before the league tears him apart?”

I would guess the hot streak would not last more than a handful of games (if at all), but I would watch with interest.

Eagle Bones

I know you weren’t serious, but I think KenWo was and that made me chuckle.

Blake Rutherford’s still on the MLB list at #85.

Adolfo should be on the list next year.

Josh Nelson

Ian Hamilton’s first strikeout in AAA

Brett R. Bobysud

Was Guerrero coming out of the bullpen in relief of Hansen last night just a one-time thing?

lil jimmy

Camilio Quinteiro, The kid never walks back to the dugout after an at bat.

Eagle Bones

He sits in the stands?

jorgefabregas

He’s on base 86% of the time.

MrTopaz

And he just runs off into the distance if he doesn’t get on base, hoping to expiate the shame through flight.

ForsterFTOG

I assumed you meant Willie McGee style when he struck out.

ParisSox

These are so fun to read every day!

Nick Madrigal: 3-5, Double, BB, 1R, 2RBI, 2 Stolen Bases.
O State and Mississippi State rematch today for a shot at College Championship Series VS. Arkansas.

Right Size Wrong Shape

Is Pilkington pitching?

I’d assume they go with Ethan Small. He’s their #1 and would be going on normal rest.
