Is Sosa’s glove as bad as it looks?
It hasn’t looked great. With that said, manning 2nd base vs shortstop while also figuring out big league hitting is a big ask. He’s struggled but everything I’ve heard about him is am he works his butt off. Just got to let him struggle a bit. Seems to be his MO. Struggle with new level…then take off
He is having a rough time at both facets of the game. Sucks to see because I am a fan of him.
The official scorer hasn’t seen fit to charge him with any errors. I think there have been at least 3 plays between last night and today when I would have scored it as an error.
I don’t think we can know about his glove for the long term based on such a small sample at his age.
A number of the plays may have been close at first in any case (hence the lack of errors, I think). However I was judging based on the fact that the ball just doesn’t seem to stick in his glove.
I didn’t watch the game yesterday but I heard they played hard. Maybe someone finally spoke up. I hope it wasn’t for just one game.
Never seen someone look completely dead then completely dangerous in one year as much as pollock
Drew Rasmussen’s perfect through 7 in Tampa.
Perfect through 8.
Lost it to the leadoff man in the 9th.
With one out he struck out Phillips, who then reached on a wild pitch. I’m glad he didn’t lose the perfect game on that pitch!
Pollock and Eloy both had purposeful at bats there – came up to hit with a plan, and then executed
Vaughn needs to focus there. He turned towards the field of play thinking he was out, but not knowing the first baseman had dropped the ball.
He’s not setting the world on fire, but after failing to record a quality start in 6 of his first 7 games, (assuming TLR doesn’t over-extend him today) Lynn just posted his 3rd in his last 5 games. Not sure if we can expect more than that out of him for the rest of the year, but it might indicate the worst is behind him and he’ll be able to be serviceable next year.
I think he’s really looked fine in almost every game, he’s just been bitten by the home run too often. I haven’t really been concerned about him. The stuff has been there, he just needed to figure it out.
Agreed, stuff looks good, it’s just execution is off. For next year I want to see him come in a lot lighter he’s way too heavy this year. 20 lbs minimum. He getting too old and now with knee problems to carry that much extra weight.
100% agree.
I’ve been watching on Gameday, but it appears that the umpire stinks.
It has been a strange zone, but seemingly consistent. It’s tight top to bottom as several potential strikes at the bottom of the zone were balls; but it’s also wide, as several balls just outside have been strikes.
Nice inning from Lambert!
4 hitters, 4 strikeouts. Diekman in now to get the lefties. Except TLR forgot that Detroit has that Haase guy who does nothing but hit home runs against us.
Fairly sure that’s why Lambert was in to start the inning vs catcher Barnhart
In hindsight, he probably should have stayed in to face Badoo. Worked out, though.
Hope moncada gets a chance in the 8th inning….. Is that better?
I’m aware that I will look bad attacking a middle-school troll but so be it. You @Nellie Fox are a one-note whiner who is so obsessed with being dour that you made this comment after the Vaughn home run. I can’t imagine the thought process that sees Vaughn’s home run and thinks that it’s time to complain about Moncada.
Problem with any comment section is the lack of the intent of sarcasm. A t asked last game of my adoration of moncada and I was actually sending my comment to him. Don’t take it personal , like a middle school troll .
Let’s all make sure we don’t have too much fun venting about replacement level production from every day players!
Norge Vera finally started a game for Winston-Salem today. 2 hitless innings with 2 strikeouts, 14 of 20 pitches for strikes.
Some insurance run(s) would be good.
The good news for Tigers fans is that Haase didn’t injure himself there on that Eloy-esque effort
