I can’t wait to DFA Keuchel …I’ll help him pack

As Cirensica

It’s amazing. He is so toasted I can’t believe he is still with the team.

dwjm3

Yeah I mean we might be better off giving these starts to Davis Martin. He may suck as well but at least he might get valuable development

calcetinesblancos

Might?

dwjm3

Yes might . …If he doesn’t have a future in mlb giving him starts won’t lead to anything. It is only legitimate development time if he has an mlb future

Foulkelore

I really wish Zack Wheeler’s wife was from the midwest.

What I want to know is why he and Machado were the only guys they offered 9 figure deals to. They just quit after that, and have not been in on one upper tier free agent since.

As Cirensica

Please make it stop…someone

jhomeslice

Will the Sox offense mount 3 runs tonight to bail out Keuchel, with Moncada and Robert out? Nah.

HallofFrank

Instead of being annoyed at Keuchel tonight, I’m directing my ire toward the offense. Step up and win a friggin’ game for once.

phillyd

They have had 3 PA so far and you are mad at them?

HallofFrank

For their performance this season, not for the first three PA. Since the opening series, I can’t think of a single game in which the Sox offense showed up big and carried this team to victory. They very nearly *need* an ace-like performance to win—and that’s incredibly frustrating for a team of this caliber.

phillyd

Ah. I can dig it. Looks like they may need double digits tonight, but you are right, would be nice for the offense to carry the burden for a change.

HallofFrank

It’s just sad that even 6 runs feels virtually unattainable.

A few weeks ago, Boston’s offense was horrible and look at it now. You would think the Sox offense would have a similar resurgence, but if it doesn’t happen soon, they’ll need to make some changes. After the Cubs this weekend, their next 9 are in Toronto, Tampa, and home against the Dodgers. The offense has 4 days to wake up.

jhomeslice

I hate to say it but I think they are primed to get creamed during that 9 game stretch. 3-6 or something seems pretty likely, esp without Lynn back yet and having to rely on Keuchel or VV for at least another couple starts.

Joliet Orange Sox

Toronto has a negative run differential. I’m not sure why they should strike terror in my heart.

(Of course, the Sox are capable of playing poorly against anybody on any given night.)

They’ve scored 3 or less in 25 of 43 games. Unless your staff has an ERA of 2.5, it’s real hard to win with that kind of offense. They are pretty lucky to be close to .500 actually, with their lack of scoring and run differential.

roke1960

It’s time to end this charade. But I’m guessing Keuchel will pitch next Thursday in Toronto.

a-t

keuchel is keucooked

As Cirensica

Don’t look now but right now but McGuire is a better option at catching than Grandal. Better defensively and about the same offensively

Think you are correct, Sox should look for players who want to play rather than get paid.

Nellie Fox

Time is running out on this keuchel project, he does not offer anything game to game. 2 innings 7 hits, 2 walks and 6 runs. This is becoming recurring with this guy. He got his money, cut him loose.

As Cirensica

Keuchel’s ERA is almost 8 (7.88), and we are almost in June. He shouldn’t start another game.

I was laughed at when I said Vaughn batting 2nd would bring 2-3 runs per game, maybe it just might by giving him more at bats. 5 rib tonite by himself.

a-t

Is there some rule on the books that the offense is only allowed to be effective after their starter gets shelled?

a-t

A few different times now that Foster has gone right after Boston’s best hitters and beat them. Good stuff!

As Cirensica

Why did TLR bring Banks again?

As Cirensica

Serious question, If Banks is throwing mop up innings in the 7th and the 8th, why didn’t TLR bring him over to replace Keuchel when the game was 6×0? Keep better arms for later innings in case the White Sox make a come back, which they did. TLR managing is maddening.

Yolmer's gatorade

Yeah not great managing with a day off tomorrow. Bummer or Graveman in the 7th and Banks or Sousa if they can’t score.

metasox

Maybe trying not to use Bummer as he was just back from the IL and pitched last night. VV prob not available. That doesn’t leave much really effective to cover three innings. Though I thought the Sox would have called up someone other than Banks.

We’re at that point in the season where we need to light a fire under the player’s feet. Time to trade someone, or fire someone. Note not trade for someone, trade someone from the core to send a message.

jhomeslice

I know you said to trade someone from the core, but it won’t do any good unless they get better. If there is any truth to the rumors that Juan Soto might be dealt, how about starting with Eloy and Crochet and building a package around those 2? I know would take a lot more than that but that isn’t a terrible starting point.

chambers.kevin

WTH is going on with our defense, don’t you know how to communicate? This is just sloppy baseball!

Yolmer's gatorade

I don’t understand Banks in the 7th with an off day tomorrow.

Foulkelore

Same here, and with an off day again Monday. Under those circumstances, a two run deficit should have been treated as higher leverage than normal.

a-t

sousa dude what the fuck lol

Foulkelore

Josh Harrison pitched.

Foulkelore

And his 2 runs in 1 inning gives him a better ERA on the night than both Keuchel and Banks.

jhomeslice

He doesn’t pitch much worse than he hits actually.
