At this point, for TLR to do something that actually made perfect sense would be shocking.

Remember the unprecedented payroll flexibility the Sox had and the talk that they would try to sign both Harper and Machado? Grandal, Lynn, Pollock, Kelly, Leury, and Harrison average age is 33.5 and have a combined salary of $67.5M. Harper and Machado’s average age is 29 and have a combined salary of $59.5M. Hahn is awful.
Reinsdorf would not let Hahn commit the money to sign anybody to longer term deals. Hahn may suck in some ways and I’m not saying he’s smart, but he is screwed by his boss.
Every GM has to operate within their owner’s guidelines. Hahn has a proven track record of not being able to. No manager is good enough to drag a Hahn built team to a World Series title.
@Marty34 I don’t think anyone is arguing that Hahn has done a good job or that the Sox should not have tried to sign Harper (who would have been a perfect signing). I think @Augusto Barojas is only pointing out that signing Harper or Machado was not a real-world possibility for any GM with Jerry as owner.
When criticizing Hahn, there are plenty of possible moves he could’ve made that would have been preferable to what he did instead but signing a player to a $300M – $330M long-term contract with Jerry as owner was no more possible than cloning Willie Mays.
I agree that Hahn’s not been great. But I think Augusto’s point is just that the Machado/Harper fiasco is probably not Hahn’s fault. If Jerry ponied up and said “here’s $350m for Machado,” it’s not like Hahn would have said, “nah, let’s keep the flexibility.”
Kenny Williams and the 2005 incarnation would like a word…
(Although I understand where everyone is coming from, and generally agree with the pervading sentiments).
When you’re on first you don’t often get the chance to see the ball completely get away before going. You read the bounce and make a judgment call. The ball stuck under the catchers mask. That is rare. Had it not, it would have given sheets time to get there. On this team, I’m ok with hustle errors.
And besides Leury was coming up. Gavin knew he could make something happen or get doubled up

Why did McGuire get a 3-0 green light to chase ball 4? Did Tony get confused about who he was from his last name?
The Sox have FIVE hits today, in the same game? This team is so much fun to watch when they are crushing the ball like that.

That E6 was classic. Garcia cuts in front of Sosa and then muffs it. So not only does the runner reach, but we don’t get to see if Sosa could have made the play.
Do you really need to ask why? I just can’t believe Hahn and company can sit there and watch TLR make bad decisions, one after another, as long as he has. Oh well… it will be interesting if they are sellers at the deadline.
I miss the days when the rules allowed bringing in someone like Graveman in the 7th.

Benetti’s done with it too. He already mentioned that now you lose the chance to use the higher leverage guys, and now he’s talking about Lynn being left in too long with his control fading before that.
I stopped watching in the 6th (this team is just boring)…just took a peak at the score, and oh boy, glad I stopped watching.

This should put one question to rest. If TLR isn’t fired now it won’t happen and we can all shut up about it. Getting embarrassed at home by a last place team and showing no fight whatsoever should do it. Probably won’t, but it should.

We are now in a situation where it is unlikely we’ll be above .500 at the break, and the team is a mess. I have to imagine that if Toronto or San Diego (for example) were to be in the situation that we now find ourselves in that they would be replacing their manager any day now.
I’ve been telling folks for the past week that this Baltimore team is better than they were getting credit for, but losing the first 3 games at home…including a bullpen day…is just really bad. We needed this series and we are getting our arses kicked.
What’s sad is the number of people at today’s game. They should be drawing like the Rays by now. People are sheep if they keep paying money to watch a team run and managed this badly.
Haseley hasn’t played since the Mendick incident, has he?

Second game in a row where Chuck Garfien is calling out Tony’s decision making. It’s almost impossible for the organization’s mouth pieces to defend the moves being made by the organization

This team is absolutely listless. I said going into this season that too many were looking at this team with their rose colored glasses on. How so many saw this team as a World Series contender is beyond me. Too many weren’t considering regression. Sure there’s been a myriad of unfortunate luck. Every team has these things happen. The White Sox have gotten more than their share of it to be fair. The incompetence of their manager is just another in a long list of issues to overcome. I believe it’s time to see it for what it is and White Flag Sale this team (ala 97′). They honestly shouldn’t try to move Eloy, Moncada, Giolito, etc… with their value at an all time low. But the point still remains. With a barren minor league system ranked the worst in baseball, to the rampant underachievement at the Major League level there’s just little to no hope of this version of the White Sox to compete with the elite teams even if they’re somehow managed to save face which is looking more and more unlikely by the day. Move players with some value, and attempt to replenish some much needed depth. What else is there to do? What a farce.

The pro scouting and analytics for the Sox is either non-existent or totally incompetent. None of the Sox starters should ever see the 7th inning unless it’s a perfect game and up by 6 or 7. They have no stamina and more importantly don’t have the stuff. Ricky did the same thing, but it seems way worse with the hall of fame baseball guy.
The lack of offense is obviously the biggest hurdle this year, but it is possible to sequence the pitching properly at minimum.
No Sosa yesterday, now he’s leading off? K.

I think it’s far more true that no GM could win with Reinsdorf as owner than it is that no manager could win with Hahn as a GM.

Hahn traded Tatis, Jr. for Shields. He will never get another GM job.
Is Sosa leading off in his first major league start?
I didn’t understand why, but TLR anticipated the error and run that Sosa would score. 53rd dimensional chess stuff.
Call me crazy but Gavin is looking better. Maybe the regular abs got it going. But I like it
On a team of bad baserunners, Sheets might be the worst.
But of bad luck with the ball sticking in his throat, that is just a bad break
The ball didn’t get away from the catcher. A guy as slow as Sheets needs the ball to get far away from the catcher. It was a boneheaded move.
When you’re on first you don’t often get the chance to see the ball completely get away before going. You read the bounce and make a judgment call. The ball stuck under the catchers mask. Haha, He’s got McGuire and Sosa back to back in the order. Tony’s 1998 brain is waiting for some major pop
Lol
It’s so refreshing to have somebody who can actually run out there.
Two O’s errors with Sosa on the bases? Must have been disoriented seeing a Sox player physically able to run
run and without that dreadful feeling he will fall and have his leg amputated
Did Larussa actually give participation trophies for the last two games? What is the love affair with a 180 hitter playing in late June.
Be ready for 2 more years of that. Buy alcohol. It helps.
Not sure Anderson or Harrison are fully available
Not fully available – White Sox new motto

Can’t field, can’t hit, can’t run.
Leury.
Yeah, but the rest of his game is just so solid.
When was the last time the White Sox hit a homer?
That would be when we got Berrios. So…Monday.
I don’t remember the exact year but it seems like Zeke Bonura hit one against the Browns a bit ago.
They’ve hit 3 home runs this week, all in the same game, last Monday, June 20th.
Wow, incredible
Why does Tony make his pitchers throw so many god damn pitches?
Are they really going to lose 3 in a row to the O’s at home? Yikes.
I’d say, no, it’s probably gonna be 4
Why Ruiz with the game on the line and your higher leverage guys rested?
Do you really need to ask why? I just can’t believe Hahn and company can sit there and watch TLR make bad decisions, one after another, as long as he has. Oh well… it will be interesting if they are sellers at the deadline.
I think, ultimately, the decision of who is managing this team isn’t really up to Hahn.
I have a sneaking suspicion that not long after TLR leaves the team goes up for sale and Michael Reinsdorf has no interest in it.
Tony’s gotta go
I miss the days when the rules allowed bringing in someone like Graveman in the 7th.

Fire Tony!

This was a close game up to the 7th and neither Graveman or Kelly have pitched.
Not that it matters, but I don’t understand why Haseley (or Harrison) isn’t running for Sheets right now.
I’d wager the thinking is IF the Sox are going to make a game out of it, you’d rather have Sheets bat in the lineup
Right, but when he was on first that out really might have mattered if, say, Burger had grounded to short.
It just seems like another tendency that Tony has to play for later instead of for now. If there isn’t a sense of urgency at this point then when?
Haseley hasn’t played since the Mendick incident, has he?

Analytics is Tony’s gut feeling.
Unfortunately, he had Taco Bell.
Somebody point him to Arby’s next time.
