Nothing like making sure you can’t get hits in bunches to ensure that no runs are scored.

Foulkelore

One could defend Moncada and Grandal a bit, because they are typically good hitters. There is no defense in the world for: “Leury Garcia: lead-off hitter.”

Whoom

Yeah, I guess… But the eye test on at least Grandal’s at bats pretty much argues for the IL, not more at bats

I know this isn’t the right place to ask because it isn’t an issue, however, can we have everyone in baseball and sports writing change from RHP/LHP to RRP/LRP/RSP/LSP? I think this would be better for the fans who are a little more casual and have no idea say what some relief pitcher being cut from the phillies. I dunno, could be my Two Hearted speaking. Also, sorry for putting righties before lefties twice. You’re both equal except to ambidextrous, they’re clearly far superior to us all.

Ball 6

Dare we begin to think that Burger’s bat is real. He certainly can look awkward and overmatched but. as with Robert and unlike Palka, Burger seems to learn from at bats were the pitcher made him look foolish.

Its just laughable how bad Leury looks at the plate

(edit: though somehow I’m not actually laughing)

With Sheets and Burger being the only ones in the line-up with hits and Pollock the only one to draw a walk, does it really matter where Leury bats or how bad he looks?

Well… actually, yeah. He came up with a guy on 3rd and 1 out. Proceeded to not even make contact, hence not scoring the run.

a-t

I wonder how bad he has to be for them to think about a DFA even with so much money owed

funkerdan

contracts should have claws that tear you apart when you’re terrible.. erm, claws that tear the contract up… no wait, it’s a clause that ends the contract… No, I’m back on actual claws that tears everything up.

denman

Yeah, 3 strikeouts from the leadoff spot doesn’t help. But, really, everyone in this offense needs to have better at-bats. With TA7 out Leury’s going to get PAs and with the way this offense is underperforming I don’t know that it matters where you stick him in the order.

As Cirensica

Josh Harrison leading off tomorrow…

As Cirensica

Or worse, Leury and Harrison both in tomorrow’s game.

funkerdan

batting first and second?

metasox

That was kind of by chance. Normally the leadoff guy isn’t so relied on for RBIs with the bottom of the order ahead of him. Problem is there are so few chances with this lineup, they can’t waste them

Shingos Cheeseburgers

I like Leury a lot. He seems like a pleasant enough guy.He has been on some really bad Sox teams and has grown as a player in his 9(!) years on the team. The fact that he’s batting lead off at the peak of the rebuild’s contention window is such a glaring failure by so many decision makers I can’t be too mad at the Legend himself.

As Cirensica

Leury looks completely lost.

funkerdan

He’s in Chicago

metasox

Am much more concerned with bats that matter like Grandal and Moncada
