Lol Keuchel

Shingos Cheeseburgers

Cruising to the playoffs makes the flop of the Keuchel deal much less noticeable

Shingos Cheeseburgers

Lol wake me up for the ALDS

asinwreck

If only Zack Wheeler’s wife was from Wheeling.

joewho112

We need Chicago area women to go out there and seduce top flight free agents.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

Pulled in the middle of an AB? I smell drama.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

I hate this as much as you do but Jeff Samardzija had more WAR in fewer starts with the Sox than Keuchel has. Woof.

I think this would be more damning if it were true.

Samardzija had 0.3 bWAR in 32 starts. Before tonight’s game, Keuchel had 0.6 bWAR in 24 starts this year and 2.7 bWAR in 35 starts since the Sox signed him.

2.3 fWAR in 32 starts for Jeff, 2.2 (and shrinking) fWAR for Dallas in 35 starts. There’s enough stats out there to make any lukewarm take check out.

Mea culpa. I only checked bWAR. I’m not a fangraphs member and I don’t want to be a free rider.

I find the fWAR of 2.3 hard to understand for 2015 Samardzjia. Samardzija had an ERA of 4.96 in a year when the league average ERA was 4.01. He had an ERA+ of 79 over 214 ip during that year with the Sox. Samardzija led the majors in hits allowed (228) and earned runs allowed (118) and led the AL in homers allowed (29). To reach 2.3 fWAR, fangraphs must really like something about that high ERA pitching.

fWAR cares nothing about ERA. K’s, BB’s, and dingers rule the day

Gotta be close to Keuchel’s last start this year. Can’t keep putting him out there, might as well let Lopez have his starts since he’ll be in there by the 2nd-4th inning anyway.

chambers.kevin

Or give developmental innings to Stievert or Lambert

chambers.kevin

I’ve been saying it for months Keuchel needs to be removed from the rotation. Put a young guy in there and let them develop, use the bullpen day, anyone but him.

Foulkelore

Welcome back, Yaz!

Shingos Cheeseburgers

I deeply love this stupid sport of ours

No really. It’s just the dumbest sport.

LamarHoyt_oncrack

I think Grandal should play more.

Foulkelore

I suppose a 6 run handicap would be about right for the Cubs.

Foulkelore

Hmmm, I guess I was wrong. Keuchel should have spotted them a few more.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

Considering the beard I’m into this gritty reboot of Reynaldo Lopez

jhomeslice

This Cubs team might be a good bet to lose 100+ next year if they don’t add much in the offseason.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

There can’t be a whole lot of games where the Sox have trailed by six AND led by six

Foulkelore

I’m curious about the history of scoring X number of unanswered runs after the other team scored at least the first 6 runs. Then, that could be limited further by looking at the same info if the other team scored all of those runs in the first inning.

LamarHoyt_oncrack

I didn’t think there was any real possibility Keuchel would not be on the postseason roster when people suggested it several starts ago. But he has gotten so much worse.

Unless he fixes some issue and has results to match in the next week or two, I cannot envision why he would pitch in October, or why he should have a roster spot really.

phillyd

An extra 3-4 mph would be a good place to start.

jhomeslice

Up 7, now might be a good time to get Robert, TA, and Grandal out of the game.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

The non-Reynaldo portion of the pitching staff this evening should get extra chores for the weekend.
