I was a little perturbed about the weak lineup to support Rodon…and then I realized that right now this is probably the best 9 they can field against a lhp.

Yeah, maybe Garcia over Mendick. Maybe Collins over Zavala. But none of them are good against LHP so it’s splitting hairs however you look at it. You could make an argument to move Moncada even further down against lefties, but he’s a professional hitter with a defined approach while everyone after him is either 1) notably worse; 2) still getting their feet wet, and/or 3) relying on a small sample size to make their case.

So should they just engrave Correa’s name on the gold glove now or should we play out the season?

soxygen

Yeah, it feels like a showcase for Correa’s free agency. He has made some really nice plays.

C’mon guys, you’re playing a great game, but this same baserunning mistake was made earlier this year. Don’t run past the bag or the runner behind you when hung up like that.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

The contact play is worse than bunting

soxfan

Why are we being so cautious with Kopech? Has he pitched more than an inning since coming of the IL? He’s a great weapon no matter what but his real value comes from going multiple innings?

(If TLR is saving him for back to back games because of tomorrow’s DH I rescind my question.)

I agree, and I’m not advocating not being cautious with him. But he is nearly 3 years removed from TJ surgery, and has thrown just 35 innings this year. There is such a thing as underutilizing a player, and being too cautious.

I certainly hope they envision an expanded role for him in the playoffs, with multi-inning appearances in the near future. 1 inning per appearance is not making the best use of an incredible talent.

2-5 feels a lot better than 0-5.

I don’t know. This Houston team might need to make some moves if they want to compete with the White Sox come October.

Four earned runs allowed in 3 games by our starters against the best hitting team in baseball. Just outstanding work by the starters, even Cease was pretty good.

soxfan

Two of the three runs Cease gave up were “earned” in name only. Had Garcia covered second in the third Cease would’ve gotten out of it without giving up a run.
