Six straight games of the offense scoring 5+, good chance to make it 7 with this start. Yoan showing signs of life, Timmy nearly back, Pollock heating up. The offense is finally clambering out of its funk. Now if the damn bullpen could get healthy…

Good to see Moncada look happy for a change. Too bad about Crick ending up on the IL. He was looking useful for at least some middle relief time. Though I suppose this helps juggle the roster
They’ve been playing almost exclusively quite good teams during this stretch. The path to scraping back to the playoffs goes through a cotton-candy ROS schedule, thankfully
Bumslaying has value. It was one reason I thought Keuchel could stick around. He was average against bad teams and got rocked against the best in the league. Someone has to pitch against the Tigers and while you don’t always have the luxury of setting up your rotation, having a swing guy like Velasquez who can sit in the pen and pitch low leverage long relief until a starter needs a day off is valuable.
At this point, it should be uncontroversial that he’s the best internal option. Things could change quickly, of course. But right now, it’s got to be Mendick.
Let’s correct that run differential in one game, boys!

Leury Garcia is pinch-hitting for Robert, I assume that’s because it’s an 11-run lead so they figure why not give Robert some extra rest? I hope that’s the case.

Could Davis Martin get the save if he finishes the game? That would be one way to save the bullpen, and he’s sitting at 51 pitches finishing the 7th.
What are the chances the front office is filling out the lineup card, and Katz is calling the shots on sequencing the pitching.? Perfect use of VV today, he’s a one time Thru the order guy.
This team could really use a sweep. Get it done, boys.
The fix is in.

Crick is broken now?
Right elbow soreness, retroactive to yesterday.
Playing bad teams is fun

This is weird, kept thinking Perez was coming up with Grandal/Maguire problems, and here’s Zavala again!
Perez was dinged up, he’s expected to be back in Charlotte’s lineup today
This Andrew Vaughn guy may be able to hit, huh?
Vince Velasquez looking like he could be a useful member of the pitching staff.
I think we should wait until he pitches against a major league team before getting our hopes up.

This is what I was getting at. I think he can be used to save the bullpen and eat low leverage innings.
I was just making fun of the Tigers. I agree the Sox can definitely use Velasquez at this time.
Just watching on Gameday. What’s with the early pull? Injury? Was Vasquez on a pitch limit coming off the IL?
coming off injury + he also wasn’t super stretched out when he went on the IL
With only 41 pitches? I guess the Sox wants to be extra careful.
the pitching staff are dropping like pop flies in front of eloy, so it’s warranted
I was surprised too – earlier in the game Len speculated that VV would be good for 70 pitches
Mendick is making an excellent case to remain the starting 2B when Timmy coming back forces a move
At this point, it should be uncontroversial that he’s the best internal option. Things could change quickly, of course. But right now, it’s got to be Mendick.
If the Sox don’t DFA Harrison the moment Timmy’s back and make Mendick the starting 2B, they’re even dumber than I thought (and that’s saying A LOT).
By my count the Sox have made 34 roster moves since June 2nd. In case anyone is wondering why it is so hard to keep up.
The way Yoan has started hitting like someone with no outside interests and a really engaged affect
Good old 7-5 force out. I like watching the Sox play the Tigers.
so nice to see the Sox finally cruising for pride month 🏳️🌈
A blowout game….We finally can afford Sousa throwing garbage innings and he is not with the team anymore.
This is hilarious:

He’d get the W since Vasquez didn’t finish the 5th
Thanks, I forgot about that detail. Would’ve been fun to get a save in a 12 run win…
I’d let him finish the game if he can.
I agree entirely. Spare the bullpen any way we can.
Morphed into the NFL pro bowl.
This looks like good beer league slow pitch softball to me.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a position player pitch then go back to being a position player

It does feel like Tony got a talking to from the FO about his lineup silliness
