Gonna put some positive vibes out here….today is the day we rock Lynch. More than a run per inning. Come on!!

Adam

6 pitches later….getting the Michael Bluth “I think I made a big mistake” meme ready

Foulkelore

Did Kopech just hurt himself during his warmup pitches?

Adam

He did. But staying in. Hopefully nothing serious

Adam

First fastball 88 mph. Jesus

OldMMJ87

I don’t like him staying out there, this reminds me of that start he had in 2018 where he was sitting in the low-90s and then wound up hurting his arm.

SoxSideMike

What did he do?

Foulkelore

Looked like his knee again, but I have the sound down.

Adam

I started this thread w positive vibes. First inning is an unmitigated disaster. I should have my membership revoked and sent to root for the Twins

Foulkelore

Nobody should have to suffer that fate.

HallofFrank

To be fair, your prediction could still turn out to be true. And today would be a great day for it.

dat gummit

dat gummit

Shingos Cheeseburgers

Cmon where’s the positivity this isn’t anything 10-12 singles can’t overcome

SoxSideMike

4 singles down, 8-10 to go…

a-t

Well, this is going really badly.

soxygen

I’m listening to this game and so far it sounds unwatchable

Foulkelore

Outs are cool. How about trying to get those? Or, start with one and see how it goes.

Foulkelore

Time to get Cueto up.

Adam

I vote we do what we did the last time kopech was hurt. Put Cueto in. Every day while we’re at it. Ride the horse

hellotowel

I’m on vacation and I brought my Sox gear to wear. Kind of wish I had brought my Fire stuff instead.

They’re bad too, but at least it’s less embarrassing.

King Joffrey

Think Josh Harrison can go 9?

Adam

Can only go up from here

asinwreck

What, you think this game might kill Jerry and/or Tony?

asinwreck

a-t

At least it’s not arm trouble I guess

As Cirensica

Checking in….wow

😨
🤡

Adam

You can tell Benetti and Stone know this team when they are saying you better get a hit soon cause it feels like the type of day where a no hitter comes.

tommytwonines

I wonder if Melendez will swing at all his next time up. He’s taken all 11 pitches so far – took three strikes looking – and walked twice to lead off the first and second.

What a concept when the other pitchers are hurt or struggling.

HallofFrank

I’m surprised Joe didn’t send Eloy on that Abreu single to right.

soxfan

3 hits and a cloud of dust.

As Cirensica

White Sox Baseball – A bunch of hits and a cloud of dust

Foulkelore

Ground ball, ground ball, ground ball, ground ball, …

Singlesssssss…

soxfan

Watching the gamecast – how did Moncada score from first on a single? I guess he was running with 2 out and a full count, but did something stupid happen or did he just leg it out?

a-t

Something silly happened. The royals CF Taylor came sprinting in on Andrus’ bloop to center, and almost made a spectacular play but it kicked off his glove a little ways, and for whatever reason Taylor just lay there for a second like he thought he caught it instead of immediately retrieving the ball.

jorgefabregas

I would add: I’m pretty sure Moncada was running hard all the way with two outs. Like you said, Taylor was only lying there for a second or two.

ecivokrak

I’m just “watching” on GameCast too as I work, so can’t really see much but singles upon singles upon singles without context. 8 more singles, and we’ll break the record for most singles in an inning.

Lynch was pretty wild and the Sox were mostly patient. A lot of the singles were solid pieces of hitting on 2 strike borderlineish pitches, there weren’t a ton of pitches to be crushed

calcetinesblancos

Nice inning, good to see the team isn’t asleep like their brain-dead manager. I assume Davis Martin is on his way to Chicago? Or do they need to act like he’s fine so that Tony doesn’t look like the absolute moron we all know he is?

jorgefabregas

I don’t think they need him till Saturday, assuming he will start.

a-t

Not to jinx him but VV is really stepping up when they need it today.

Foulkelore

Yep, if not for his work, so far, they’d need a whole lot more singles to make this a game.

Adam

Step up? VV doesn’t need to step up, he lives at the top of his game

Foulkelore

Dang, make that wall higher. It’s not like that would impact the Sox hitting home runs, so might as well keep the doubles in play.

abehickock

Now would be a great time for a single.

abehickock

Of course not.

Adam

Wow, huge call!

a-t

A hit that’s more than a single? Pinch me, I’m dreaming

Foulkelore

Elvis has, well, stayed in the building, but it was a double, which is kind of like a home run for this team.

As Cirensica

Elvis Andrus signing working out well

a-t

We’re gonna strand a runner at third again, aren’t we

Foulkelore

Oh yeah, no contact with a runner on third and less than 2 outs again.

upnorthsox

Yes

Adam

I’m starting to agree with mcewing. Just send everybody and make it hurt less

As Cirensica

Yas disagrees

a-t

Josh has been stumbling over himself booting a lot of mostly routine grounders lately. Hope he’s not hurt

Foulkelore

Oof, that error. It looked like Harrison was fielding a grenade with how he fell down when it hit him.

chambers.kevin

You can’t win the division in April and May, but you sure can lose it during those months. I got/am so tired of the excuses from this team. We played horribly when we shouldn’t have in April and May, and yeah are we playing better now? But I just think we dug ourselves into too deep a hole. I can personally think of 8 games now TLR lost us due to poor bullpen decisions, or other decisions. I love this team, but this team is as many have said dead. It’s nice to see Andrus come in with some life.

This offseason I want to trade TA, let Abreu walk, and probably other things.

Okay rant over thanks for reading.

a-t

The team is dead, so they should get rid of the two clubhouse leaders?

soxygen

What is the basis for saying those two are clubhouse leaders? And has that leadership been valuable this year?

a-t

They’ve been billed as such for years now by the media, announcers, etc? I also think it’s a silly reaction to a disappointing year to want to get rid of guys who performed as expected, instead of guys who disappointed.

ChiSoxND12

Im not taking anyone’s side on this, but if there are two “leaders” on a “dead team” I would posit that it might make plenty of sense to move on from them.

a-t

Why do you want to move on from the All-Star caliber players instead of the damn manager and coaching staff?

soxygen

I guess we may disagree on this, but I think Tim is one of the guys who disappointed (I don’t think we should move on him from him because his contract is good value, I just don’t think he’s been good this year).

And I think Johnny Cueto did more to motivate this team in one post game interview than Jose did during several weeks of sub-par effort and performance by this team. So I guess I just don’t see the leadership from him. Performance, yes. He’s our best hitter. But Jose’s own quotes make it sound a bit like he’s a guy who has given up on focusing on anything but his own performance.

chambers.kevin

Abreu as good as he is will decline. We have too many DH and 1B types that need to play 1B and DH. I think TA’s value is high and should be traded given his salary next year, the fact that I think he’ll start declining within the next couple of years, and we have several intriguing young guys in the farm system i.e. Colson. Other people have pointed out how this clubhouse is dead, so these leaders aren’t really leading. I see TA and Abreu as supporters, not leaders. I would say trade Moncada, Eloy, Robert, or one of the others, but they aren’t really performing, so you can’t maximize value right now.

a-t

117.8 mph out. Too bad Luis didn’t get any air on that… incredibly hard hit

Foulkelore

Wow, that’s crazy. A ball hit that hard can’t be an out that often.

Foulkelore

It’s a bold strategy to bean everybody in a tie game in the 8th. Let’s see how this works out for him.

tommytwonines

Fix is in.

calcetinesblancos

I love how you think these games can’t get any more ridiculous, and then they do.

soxygen

That was 3 pitches to load the bases. Holy hell, Joe…

Gus

I hate this team so much.

a-t

Ruiz in for Kelly vs Melendez. Shoot me now. Use Hendriks here!

ChiSoxND12

I know a fair number of readers here don’t pay a ton of attention to the goings-on of other teams.

Well I do and I’m here to tell you the Kansas City Royals are every bit as awful as their record suggests. They also start rookies all over the diamond, with I believe 12 on their active roster currently. And the Sox can’t handle them

upnorthsox

And sadly it’s been this way for years.

Foulkelore

Well, that didn’t work.

Last edited 1 month ago by Foulkelore
upnorthsox

Chances are slim making it up. We’ll see.

Adam

It’s sad that I’m convinced our best chance to tie this up is someone gets a single so Andrus can hit. Either he homers or were done

calcetinesblancos

Imagine a team not firing TLR after this game.

OldMMJ87

This is one of the many games this year you can point to and say “See, Tony’s actions there cost them the game.” In this game it’s hard to choose just one action though.

asinwreck

The endangering the health of the injured starting pitcher would be the one I choose. That doddering old fool needs to be yanked out of the dugout before he gets anyone else hurt.

Foulkelore

5 singles to tie, 6 to win.

Adam

Our pitchers have combined for 6 walks, 4 hit batsmen, and a wild pitch.

And we are still bringing the tying run to the plate in the 9th

That sounds like a one game summary of the Al central this year

calcetinesblancos

Yeah it’s unreal to see a bullpen this expensive routinely beat themselves.

Foulkelore

Andrew, you don’t have to hit the first pitch into the ground. You get more pitches.

ChiSoxND12

That Vaughn AB was pretty emblematic of the season/team. Pretty damn gross

Adam

Reminds me of earlier in the game. Had to follow an inning on game day. Robert up. Knuckle curve down and in on 1st pitch. Out.

Like, why? I see looking first pitch fastball and trying to drive it. Rarely do I hear great hitters speak of ripping the first pitch knuckle curve out of the zone
