live report from SF: the Sox are bums against a strong grounder-inducing righty, to no one’s surprise

upnorthsox

Cease with a 29 pitch 1st.

In the meantime, SF pitcher has 3 K’s on 11 pitches and 3 GO’s on 9.

Sheets/Moncada/Pollock/Garcia/Zavala is one fugly bottom 5 in any lineup. Zavala might be the best of the lot at the moment. If he’s better than 4 of your 9 other hitters, good luck with all that.

As Cirensica

We must score here

As Cirensica

Abreu…what a hitter!

As Cirensica

LOL Pederson

Foulkelore

When you don’t hit home runs, it certainly helps when the other team sucks on defense.

upnorthsox

Amen and don’t we know it all too well.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

Gotta love the contact play

As Cirensica

Twins with 3 hits and losing 3×0 against the Orioles and their surprising elite pen. It’s all good.

As Cirensica

Losing in the 7th

tommytwonines

That’s great! I hope you don’t jinx it.

As Cirensica

So much for elite pen

We’d like to dedicate this lead to the comedic genius of Joc Pederson

upnorthsox

Lol and of course we get thrown out at home, wouldn’t be White Sox baseball without it.

soxygen

I don’t understand this decision to pinch run for Sheets in the 6th.

Foulkelore

I can explain why Tony did it (not necessarily what I would do). He has a lead, and Gavin just batted, so he’s planning on putting in a defensive replacement in RF, so might as well get the advantage of him pinch running as well.

soxygen

I think you are right that that is what Tony is thinking, but once again with the early defensive sub…Plus, he limited his options for later in the game and it was just unnecessary to do so in that situation.

upnorthsox

Well on the plus side, at least we didn’t have to watch Sheets get thrown out at home a second time. Unless you had that as a prop bet…….

upnorthsox

Remind me again why Joe Kelly is the high leverage reliever and Tanner Banks is not?

upnorthsox

I think I meant to say Joe Kelly and Kendal Graveman.

Foulkelore

I love Steve Stone, and he knows a lot, but I wish I could explain one thing to him. The save percentage for anybody who’s not a full time closer does not matter. Anybody else in the pen only gets a chance to blow saves, can blow them with situations such as letting an inherited runner on third score in the 7th to tie the game, and rarely a chance to actually finish them, so the percentage always looks bad.

As Cirensica

Ok.. i am nervous

Foulkelore

Whew, they held on.

As Cirensica

phew…I’m gonna assume Graveman won’t be available in tomorrow’s blow out game in the Sox favor
