Jason Benetti made a reference to “Pitch at Risk to Richie Zisk” which is a slogan I remember from the banners at the old park. (The banners were a big part of the old park experience that I don’t think are really remembered enough. “Washington Slept Here” makes me laugh even today.) Jason can’t be old enough to remember the South Side Hit Men of 1977 so I’m impressed with him making references to things before his time.

This coming offseason will take White Sox comedy to a new level. Iti s clear this team needs serious investment and Jerry will be off signing Tier 3 free agents.
I would be fascinated to see how a new owner and front office would handle this roster if they came in the door this offseason. They might just tell us we need to blow it up.
Let’s be real, though. The mistake was in us thinking that an owner who has made it quite clear over the years that he views players as primarily his adversaries in labor negotiations would be willing to shell out top-tier money to someone like Harper.
I imagine quite easily. Remember this was the man who thought it was logical to hire him in the first place. Jerry isn’t a logical individual when it comes to baseball decision making.
Sometimes I wish the Twins wins more games so the White Sox are buried with no hopes, but since the Twins are bad, I keep having hopes after hopes just to see see them destroyed again and again by this snafu of a team Hahn was somehow capable to put together at a 190M price tag.
I get what you mean. The fact that we are finally starting to spend real money and we still have so many issues (2B? SP depth?) is almost impressive.
At least we finally gave up on DK, but we still don’t really have much prospect depth to deal from in order to add players via trade. Where do we go from here? Hope to just stumble to a mediocre division win and get hot at the right time in the postseason, I suppose.
Stumbling to a mediocre division win and getting hot at the right time worked great for the defending champs, who didn’t even crack 90 wins in the regular season. So… yes, basically
That has certainly worked for some teams, but I’d prefer to address gaps when completing a multi-year rebuild to improve my chances rather than just hoping to crawl to the post-season and catch lightning in a bottle.
Is Pollock hurt? Or is Tony just resting him because AJ played one game in a row? So far this week he started Wednesday and was used as a pinch hitter on Sunday.
Yaz man…
Fastballs down the middle every at bat because they know he can’t do anything with them. Hard to watch.
Where is Zack Collins? Is he hurt? I mentally penciled him in for like 4 HRs this series
Sent to AAA. Had a 41% strikeout rate with the major league club.
And still his stats were better than either of the Sox catchers.
Yeah, but he can’t catch.
Benetti talking about how much Sox fans like traveling to Toronto. Reminds me of how much Farmer would bitch about having to cross the border.
What’s the badge on the uniforms today?
Lou Gehrig Day 4 ALS
It’s the anniversary of Gehrig’s death.
Pride of the Yankees was one of my favorite movies growing up.

I can’t wait to see what they get for Luis Robert, Moncada, and Anderson in trades

Not signing Bryce Harper was such an epic mistake.
Yup, and he was just sitting there on a platter. This is what happens when you create artificial spending ceilings instead of thinking dynamically.

How can Renisdorf sit idly by and allow LaRussa to continue to manage this team?

Maybe he enjoys seeing what new goofy lineups he can come up with on a nightly basis.
Makin’ bank while in 2nd place.
Life is good.
You mean 3rd place
Doubt it was intentional, but I really like “Renisdorf”…because at first I thought you called him “Penisdorf”.
😀 actually I stole “Renisdorf “ from another poster I once read who had actually made the spelling mistake but I think it fits best.
Another meek wave and miss.
Uninspired, dead ballclub.

aww… they rallied! now it’ll only be a one-run loss!
Hey, I appreciated the optimism.
Very
You were saying?
Never mind me
Is Pollock hurt? Or is Tony just resting him because AJ played one game in a row? So far this week he started Wednesday and was used as a pinch hitter on Sunday.
But he played ALL 9 innings.
