This team is really boring to watch right now

LamarHoyt_oncrack

I know it’s not like it would make a ton of difference with two hits, but why bat Hernandez leadoff? Seems like it would make sense if he hit low in the order with Robert hitting first. But I don’t have an office.

dwjm3

Yeah feels like LaRussa is putting extra pressure on him when he is a funk

dwjm3

Lynn is really dealing

LamarHoyt_oncrack

Much better than last couple times out when he didn’t seem to have command and had super high pitch count early. A good sign, even without Springer the Jays have a very good lineup.

dwjm3

Vaughn is so slow

jhomeslice

Vlad jr and his dad, couple of badass dudes.

dwjm3

Seby really struggles as a receiver

No catcher is going to get that ball that let the winning run score. But another catcher is going to stop the pitch that let the runner go to second and then third on the K. But this is all on Kimbrel tonight. A really bad trade so far. He’s just not getting it done. If he can’t pitch the 8th maybe he should sit for a while and think about how and when he might be allowed in games to throw ball after ball to the backstop or in the dirt.

Say LaRussa you think the Kimbrel in the 8th experiment may not be working?

hitlesswonder

I don’t understand how someone can only pitch effectively in the 9th in save situations but not any other situation.

But I do think they might as well swap Hendriks’ and Kimbrel’s roles…there’s no reason not to and maybe it will work.

LamarHoyt_oncrack

Yeah, I mean he hasn’t been good. 8 outings with the Sox, has given up runs in 4 of them. Perhaps the law of averages and he was due to give up some runs, no matter how they used him. But otherwise, maybe it’s because he hasn’t been an 8th inning guy in his whole career, and for whatever reason, he doesn’t do well in that role.

It’s worth a shot to try him in the 9th a couple times just to see if he responds and starts to look like they guy they thought they traded for.

I also wonder about different scouting data and pitch calling than he’s used to.

dwjm3

If you were going to slot someone down it should be the guy who has a history of pitching the 8th and as a starter not Kimbrel.

soxygen

So maybe it all comes down to Lamb and Collins…I can’t believe I just typed those words…

jhomeslice

Lamb is a waste of a roster spot. Inexcusable to have a guy at AAA who is significantly better vs RHP in Sheets. He would be getting more hits than Lamb, period.

Shingos Cheeseburgers

No TA PH here makes me think think he’s injured not tired

dwjm3

Yeah more injured than tired …they said he is battling some sort of soreness

670WMAQtheElder

if the guy is hurt put him on the IL and enough with these half measures

Shingos Cheeseburgers

Well that’s certainly a way that an ALDS game 1 could go

hitlesswonder

At least if the Sox lose in 9 we won’t have to watch LaRussa torment Vaughn by playing him at SS.

HallofFrank

Meanwhile, Codi Heuer with the Cubs: 11 IP, 2 ER, 2 HLD, 1 SV. uggghh

One game below .500 since the All Star break. Not at all impressed with the July 31 additions. Hernandez strikes out a lot and shows no power. Tepera maybe okay. Kimbrel….is he still under warranty? ERA over 5 last 15 games. Can we return him and get Madrigal back? And can we start as a team from the HOF manager on down to take these games seriously. Big leads have been known to collapse. I assume the HOF manager might know this. Might.
