The title of the article says it all, and speaks volumes. That’s why it makes sense to trade prospects to the Royals for Salvador Perez after a 0.5 WAR season and pay him 42M for his age 34 and 35 seasons. Getz knows a good deal when he sees it. That’s only 4M a year shy of what Harper or Semien gets paid. Shrewd.
That will save Getz the trouble of looking for the equivalent of Kelly, Graveman, and Leury, they can waste 20+M all on one player. That’s called efficiency. Subtraction by addition, the White Sox way.
Carlton Fisk in his age 34-35 years had above career average production, and was a MVP candidate in 1983. this is what JR is thinking. unfortunately, his advisors aren’t telling him he will actually be getting 44-45 yr old Carlton Fisk and they are going to make this deal. hopefully Sal gets a harley too.
Getz probably: Jerry look at how well the Royals do against us, we were in a contention window and they showed us what real baseball is like. To beat the best, you gotta be the best, ya know? Remember 15?…
Jerry probably: 2015 was the 10 year anniversary, good times. Made some money. Yeah lets do that, but keep the cash this time.
Getz probably: Well Uncle Jer, I got something amazing cooked up for KC to eat most of the money on Salvy Perez and it will only take a few of the “Kenny prospects” since the good players were my doing. Remember Salvy? from 15?
Jerry probably: Oh yeah, I remember! Neat, so they will pay for a WS MVP and we see all the benefits?
Getz thoughts with a cheesy smile probably: Got em.
The long Dayton Moore heist is coming to fruition. He may be a Ranger now, but KC Royal loyalty is one that cannot be broken apparently. Go Sox

LOL. Well Fisk’s WAR the season prior to 1983 was 3.3, I think he was a bit more spry at his age than Salvy!
When asked if his Bulls could beat the current Lebron Lakers, Jordan said the Bulls would take the series in 7.
“Why 7?”
“Because we’re all in our 60’s now”
I love this

The real question, that everyone seems to be dodging, is…
Do the Royals play baseball the right way? That’s what Jerry aspires to.
