White Sox Minor Keys: June 25, 2023
Minor League Baseball wrapped up its first half, and the White Sox organization didn’t claim any postseason spots. Here’s where they ended up with (nearly) three months in the books before the slates are wiped clean for the second half.
Charlotte Knights: Fifth in the International League East at 35-40, which is respectable considering their IL-worst -103 run differential. Toledo was the next closest at -74.
Birminmgham Barons: Finished last in the Southern League at 25-44, which isn’t the worst record in MiLB, but they do have the worst run differential in the minors at -131.
Winston-Salem Dash: Lost a sizable division lead to finish at 34-29, a half-game behind first-half winner Greenville (36-30).
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers: Finished tied for second in the Carolina League South at 35-40, four games behind Myrtle Beach.

Woof. Even our best prospects seem like we have to really cross our fingers to hope we get a few useful players out of them eventually. The whole org, top to bottom, what a mess.
With even less hope for the future, it’s even more reason to go all in to try and get to the playoffs this year. At least there will be something exciting in the immediate. Live in the now!
Ramos’s wRC+ is higher than last year, so there’s that. I assume his increase in walk and strikeout rates are attributable to the pre tacked ball.
Well yeah, he’s one. Montgomery maybe. there’s some other nice talent but A) not all of it will pan out and 2) there isn’t enough top talent to actually have a pipeline of dudes coming up. Which is why the system is ranked where it is. My point is that since dour days are ahead regardless, let’s try to bring a little joy to these current days.
