At least sox pitchers are walking the guys that can hurt us this series. No issues at all with Stanton, Rizzo, Torres walks. Just stay away from the Cabrera, Higiashioka ones

funkerdan

Boom Burger.

DocGreedo

Obviously Burger needs to only be in the lineup for favorable matchups.

roke1960

Yeah, he’s not a good matchup for a hard throwing righty on the road. Oh, wait…

DocGreedo

Someone should write a well informed article about it with various options of where the at bats could possible come from.

roke1960

Just keep Burger in the lineup- home, road, lefty, righty. Ride him until he cools off. He can play 3rd for Moncada, 1st for Vaughn, DH for Eloy/Sheets. There’s still enough at bats for those guys.

JazznFunk

Can Burger play 1B? If I am reading correctly, he has played all of 22 innings of 1B across all levels.

Right Size Wrong Shape

He looked kind of clumsy the one time I saw him there, but he’s going to look clumsy wherever you put him. The dropoff defensively from Vaughn to Burger is nothing like from Moncada to Burger.

a-t

the borg strikes again

roke1960

I hope this is the start of a 2-week hot streak for Robert.

roke1960

…and Moncada.

funkerdan

Moncada too?

Right Size Wrong Shape

And Moncada.

GrinnellSteve

Does anyone know how the air compares to yesterday? to Tuesday?

Does air heavy in particulates have appreciable effects on drag? Do breaking balls break more? Do baseballs not carry as far? If so, imagine how far Burger’s, Robert’s, and Moncada’s homers would have travelled! Just wonderin’.

roke1960

The AQI index was over 300 yesterday- in the very unhealthy range. Today, it is around 160, near the bottom of the unhealthy range.

GrinnellSteve

Thanks.

Burger’s hand signal game is strong.

I think I would be aggressive with a hook on Lynn if I were Grifol. I know it’s a DH, but the top 3 in the pen have a day of rest, and everyone else has at least 3 days of rest.

hellotowel

I thought the same thing, but . . . welp.

a-t

Brutal call on Yoan there, woof. That was well below the zone

Right Size Wrong Shape

Same thing happened to Vaughn earlier in the game.

roke1960

5 innings, 5 runs. Just a normal start for Lynn. It’s time to at least put him on the IL.

As Cirensica

He managed to increase his ERA. That’s saying something

Right Size Wrong Shape

JImmy Cordero!

As Cirensica

So Lynn is not cooked? Someone was telling me that in a thread no long ago. I think he’s toast.

a-t

methinks he be fully cookiefied

HallofFrank

I didn’t say he wasn’t toast. I said it’s too early to say he is. And I still think that. He leads all Sox starters in xFIP, SIERA, K%, and EV. He’s at 10.16 K/9 (2nd to Kopech). I know there’s a lot going wrong. But there’s a lot going right, too. He’s getting K’s and not getting hit as hard as others. Maybe he is toast. But this is a strange way to be toast.

Either way, I think this would make an interesting article! I could certainly be convinced he’s toast.

Joliet Orange Sox

Santos with a nice 1-2-3 inning. He threw 7 pitches and 6 of them were over 100 mph, peaking at 101.9 mph. The other pitch was only 99.4 mph.

a-t

Eloy bomb!

Right Size Wrong Shape

If this team has suddenly remembered how to hit home runs, I might start believing.

As Cirensica

Oh boy….can we play a game without defense shenanigans?

roke1960

Amazingly, the Sox are only 3 games out of 1st. Don’t stop now boys!

Alfornia Jones

Turns out Hahn built a team made for Yankee Stadium. TA and AB don’t have any business at the top of the order anymore. Bury them at 7/8 until they produce anything via on base skills or slugging. just one of those, not the whole OPS. Burger needs more at bats, and he definitely needs more at bats than TA or AB.

roke1960

I agree. 1-10 from the top 2 guys normally doesn’t get it done. But the middle of the order brought the power today. And 4 shutout innings from the bullpen! Let’s get the sweep now!

funkerdan

Yes, my floor is dirty.

ElCaballo45

Frazier batting leadoff for Game 2 w/ Sheets behind him! Let’s go!

chibaseball35

The Sox have had warning track power for years now. I seriously wonder if they can bring the fences in at home mid season.

a-t

Nice win boys! Let’s do it again!

roke1960

Why is Banks starting game 2?

roke1960

Now it shows Clevinger. Gameday must have made a mistake.

Joliet Orange Sox

I didn’t think Gavin Sheets had that good of a RF play in him (regardless of the outcome of the challenge).

mrridgman

In comparison to Eloy’s speed to retrieve the extra base hits in game 1, he was Usain Bolt-like.

Right Size Wrong Shape

Phils just came back to beat the Tigers in the bottom of the 9th. Kody Clemens gets his old team.

For the time being we’re all alone in 3rd place. Heady days, indeed.

Right Size Wrong Shape

Did the Sox say if they were holding Hendriks out because of the air quality? If so, I wonder if they just sent him back to Chicago.

Right Size Wrong Shape

Bummer was nasty tonight.
