Kopech looks awful so far tonight. He has no idea where the ball is going when it leaves his hand.

FishSox

I always watch delayed to skip through commercials. I turned it off and went to bed in the first. Bennetti ruined the game for me with the non stop Ohtahni love. I couldn’t take it anymore.

What’s not to love?

funkerdan

lol

That wasn’t a complaint about Ohtani.

FishSox

Ohtani is fine, Jason’s over the top, constant dripping celebration of all things Ohtani, not so much.

What is Sheets doing with his positioning there? If he uses the correct foot, he would have had plenty of stretch to not make that close.

Right Size Wrong Shape

What was Sheets doing on that stretch? It looked like he’s never played first before.

I think Gavin’s list of assets at this point is:

  1. Bats left handed
  2. That’s the list

  3. his name is Gavin so we “gave-in” and played him

4.Strapping young lad

Augusto Barojas

That would be an asset if he actually hit well. At least 1/3 of their roster is DFA material for better teams.

Foulkelore

Sigh, TOOTBLAN for the guy who usually can’t run

Right Size Wrong Shape

Honestly, I can’t get too mad about that one. He’s so slow that if that ball did drop he’d be a dead duck at second. It just hung up there.

I’d like the Sox to do a race among Grandal, Lynn and Vaughn between innings of home games, kind of like the sausage races.

Why is Kopech still out there?

Nice job Pedro, gotta make sure that the starter throws 100 pitches. Who cares if the bullpen has to inherit 2 runners with no one out?

ChiSoxND12

In Grifol’s/Kopech’s defense, he had Ohtani K’d to lead off the inning; thigh high inner 3rd on a 1-2 pitch and Roberto Ortiz missed it behind the dish. Shohei blasted a single a few pitches later

Touki’s just another example of Cleveland not being able to develop pitching. Once the Sox’s braintrust gets their hands on him, he turns into a stud.

Right Size Wrong Shape

I love Ohtani, but the stay in the game as DH rule is BS.

BS

Gavin’s got a real ability to get on top of pitches way, way up. It’s a bit of a shame that his natural flat bat path means he struggles to lift, but sometimes it works out well for him.

Foulkelore

Any chance Jerry is staying up late for this series and will pull a modern day Albert Belle signing with Ohtani? It’s a rhetorical question.

Right Size Wrong Shape

Sure. $500M for one player is definitely in the cards.

Augusto Barojas

If there’s ever been a player who might prove to be worth that, it’s this guy. There has never been a time in recently memory when it was this clear who the best player in MLB was, except for maybe a roided up Barry Bonds. Two homers and a 1 run, 10K outing. What a beast. Modern day Babe Ruth, literally.

Maybe if dementia causes him to miss a digit on the check

We’re being beat single-handedly. Albeit by the single most talented player in the history of the game.

That splitter wasn’t even a bad pitch.

Beckham on Ohtani: “this guy’s legit.” Thanks for the insight, Gordon.

Eloy’s had a great night at least.
