Alberto has a .271 career BA, but I agree that his at bats have been mostly feeble. What is it that causes position players to forget how to hit once they’re acquired by the Sox? I get that the organization (especially KW) has been prone to signing players who are past their prime in hopes of a bouncing dead cat. Alberto’s just 30 and only a couple of seasons past hitting .283 in a 200+ AB season. He posted a .305 BA with 12HRs with over 500 ABs the year before that.
Good news on the injury front. Liam and Yoan start rehab assignments today, Crochet will pitch multiple innings soon. Should have all 3 back within 10 days. And Kelly is back. Now keep everybody else healthy.
This squad’s a very fastball-hunting group. Greene’s got trademark oomph but there’s probably not a 4-seam fastball anywhere that won’t get tattooed at least a few times vs this lineup
Reds are using a curious strategy of refusing to swing at Joe Kelly fastballs and only at the knuckle curves, which did not work well. I like Good Joe Kelly.
I’m optimistic too, but I think we should pump the brakes on Crochet a little bit. He was far from a finished product before the injury, and this much time away probably isn’t conducive to a smooth re-entry into MLB. I anticipate some struggles from him.
I’m so goddamn over Reynaldo closing. The bullpen is congealing and there’s like five dudes throwing real well and he’s not one of them, why tf is he still in for the 9th
Sox win, and the best part of the night didn’t happen in Cincinnati.
In his first rehab game with Class AAA Charlotte, star #WhiteSox closer Liam Hendriks pitches a perfect seventh inning vs. Gwinnett. Only needed 9 pitches.
Pro of Hanser Alberto at bats: You can look away and do something else, because you won’t miss anything good.
Con of Hanser Alberto at bats: They are over very quickly, so you don’t have time to do something else for too long.
He’s got real bunting skills too. There is nothing he can’t do. Including give them an inning or two in relief.

Is 10 days what the Sox have said? That seems quick for a guy coming back from TJS and another who had no Spring training ramp up
you spoke too soon, apparently with Yasmani
I am trying to tune in, and I find out this game is blackout for me…why the fuck a Reds game vs Chicago is blackout in Canada?!?
I dunno, but it’s a stupid Apple game so I can’t watch it either.
That sucks.
I believe it is because the Apple TV deal is exclusive. One of the many reasons I dropped MLB.tv… “watch every out of market game” my ass!
There’s that classic Elvis power!
Gamer
Except when he’s not.
Elvis was clearly eager to don the gangster garb.
La Pantera!
A team that knocks around Hunter Greene failed to drive in Billy Hamilton from 3rd base with no outs, twice!!!! Baseball?????

Great play by Elvis! Other than the pickoff, he’s had a great game (3 run homer, 2 walks).
Holy smokes, Yaz.
C’mon, Vaughn, move your stubby legs and get there so Grandal doesn’t have to try to catch a popup.
Vaughn’s there easy. Gotta take charge.
Andrus really having hisself a game
It sure would be nice to get a season of the good Joe Kelly.
Well, he presumably won’t be going on the paternity list again… those are usually only once a season!
How familiar are you with professional athletes?
Not with the was Kopech does things.

Good Joe Kelly, a healthy Liam and Crochet could make this bullpen lights out.

Not sure who I’d send in to close, Santos?
Not sure what Lopez has done to earn so much trust from Grifol.
Routinely hitting triple digits on the radar gun, maybe?
Talking about his pitch speed or home runs allowed?
He must give Pedro Grifol some good back rubs.
Not to be greedy, but that should be 5 in a row. Let’s keep it going!!
I agree. I will never know how they had the speed of Hamilton and Andrus on 3rd with no outs and fail to score…….3 times
if only hanser knew it was legal to not swing at every single pitch

bad process good result. I’ll take it but dear god I miss Liam
Ever since Joe Kelly hurt himself running in from the bullpen, he’s turned into a different person. A. Real Life Baseball Pitcher. I like it.
