Pete Fairbanks = $3.67M
Jason Adam = $1.775M
Jalen Beeks = $1.375M
Yonny Chirinos = $1.275M
Colin Poche = $1.175M
Ryan Thompson = $1M
Josh Fleming = $727K
Garrett Cleavinger = $725K
Javier Guerra = $725K
Kevin Kelly = $720K
If you include those on IL:
Andrew Kittredge = $2.075M
Shawn Armstrong = $1.2M
And they are on the hook for:
Heath Hembree = $3.871M
So, under $16.5M for everyone, if you don’t count the $3.871 they are still paying Hembree, or less than the $17M the Sox are paying Kelly and Graveman
It’s truly amazing. Relief pitchers should be easy. At least some of the failed starters in any system should be able to become competent relievers. If drafting and developing pitching to even an average level, there should just be relievers in the system.
We’re going to play Ticket to Ride Netherlands while the Sox game is on in the next room. We’ll see if we have any reason to migrate to the other room.
In “grasping at straws” mode for looking at Sox positives, that was a nice at bat for Colas, showing some development. He took some pitches out of the zone in a long at bat and then singled on a pitch he could handle.

Who would have thought that Bellinger would have the highest WAR among position players in Chicago? Half the Sox team is negative (Eloy, Colas, Sosa, Romy, Andrus).
And you know if the Sox had gotten him, instead of Clevinger let’s say, that he would have played like Nomar Mazara. B/c that’s just what players do when they come here.
So, when Tim and Hanser come back Tuesday, and if Benintendi doesn’t have to go on the IL, Romy and Sosa are being sent down, right? It has to be those two.
I wouldn’t DFA him, but if he’s not going to play against lefties b/c Grifol is a douchebag, he should probably be sent down so he can play every day. There is no reason at this point not to play him against lefties, I mean what difference does it make with the loser players that are substituted for him? Colas has a better chance to do something positive than anybody replacing him. Either play him every day, or send him down.
Rays lose 10 games. The Rays have now gotten used to playing the White Sox, after playing them 7 times in 10 days. They are no longer prepared to face other major league teams.
If the Sox and Rays played each other exclusively for the remainder of the season, with today’s Sox roster, neither of those things would probably happen.
Statcast now has a column listing how many parks a long fly would be a home run in. Yaz’s homer would’ve been out in 23/30 parks. This is a recent change to Statcast but I’m not sure how recent. Glad not to have to wait for Would it dong on Twitter to get that info.
Can we pronounce Lopez’s comeback as over, or an aberration? He has looked basically like 2019/20 Lopez. A shame, I think putting him as closer messed with his head, and he is now totally messed up psychologically again. Which makes him useless as a pitcher. Along with the rest of the pen.
HBP on 0-2 then taken out for a pinch runner. That felt like an over-the-hill Roger Dorn in Major League 2, where he’s put in just to take a HBP and is taken out immediately.
Hitting: should have scored more with bases loaded and only 1 out in the 7th. Defense: probably should have turned that double play. Of course, pitching was the primary failure with Lopez. Everything is a failure.
Lopez was feeling hurt before pitching but failed to tell the coaching staff. However, he did tell Elvis and Eloy that they may have to make some spectacular plays behind him for all of the hard hit balls he was about to give up. Eloy keeps telling everybody that he’s not playing defense to no avail.
Season is not over! I wake up each day, thinking “this is the day that good things are gonna start happening. The talent is here.”

I just got home, saw the Sox were up, and watched through the in game highlights on Youtube TV just to see that the Rays hit another home run right when it came live. This is painful.
hahaHAHA…..oh my God. I am laughing to not end. Romy Zobrist .. oh my. This ineptitude is nothing but hilarious at this point. Good Lord. This team is awful.
If the Sox go into the 8th inning with a 2 run lead, their chances of trailing by less than 3 by the end of the inning are probably 1 in 5. Maybe less than that.
I’ll preface this by noting my daughter has Down Syndrome. Her twin solution for the Sox: 1) hire Ozzie Guillen so he can give pointers to Grifol and bring back players from 2005 to give pointers to today’s players. 2) hire the choreographer from High School Musical 2 to teach the players how to do back flips and handstands on the bases. She acknowledges this second idea is a little out there.
Lets be honest though, once youve accepted this, it is quite entertaining in a funny way. You’d think it was scripted but it is truly a genuine thing that is going down. Watching these games late, I feel bad for the white sox, I pity them. they are already dead why are they playing still? not great but irony kills in comedy lol
I’m happy for these guys. They celebrated like they won the WS. They needed this type of victories. I expect roster moves tomorrow. Haseley deserves more chances. Send Romy packing.
It would be interesting to see how the Rays built their shutdown bullpen and how much they’re paying for it compared to the Sox.

Boy genius. Thanks!
No problem, but you can just call me, “Wunderkind.”
Nice summary. How in God’s name does Hahn still have a job?
It’s truly amazing. Relief pitchers should be easy. At least some of the failed starters in any system should be able to become competent relievers. If drafting and developing pitching to even an average level, there should just be relievers in the system.
Do you think Hahn is THAT bad that he would hire a Rick Hahn to manage a baseball team? I do.
Not to be picky, but you left out Raley as part of their pen. His homer just reminded me that he pitched Thursday night.
Not to worry in ten years Sox will more then likely sign a couple to Kellyesque contracts
Shutdown-ish
We’re going to play Ticket to Ride Netherlands while the Sox game is on in the next room. We’ll see if we have any reason to migrate to the other room.
Just to be clear, is “playing Ticket to Ride Netherlands” a euphemism?
Where’s Holland23?
Doing something better than us?
Playing ticket to Ride.
Well, it was a three-player game with my wife and my daughter.
I prefer Fluxx. the board game version is quite fun
Today’s lineup might be the worst lineup in MLB all season. Haseley is almost certainly the worst hitter to hit leadoff for any team this year.
and yet, he opened with a hit.
And scored a run.
lol amazing. They now have a lead, and a pitcher on the mound who many have difficulty bringing themselves to root for to protect it.
Haseley, right now, with a 429/500/571 👀
And now Haseley is 2 for 2
I find the fact that he has not hit anywhere since 2019 mildly discouraging, but maybe he is the answer to their prayers!
3 for 3. I think we found our new guy.
a stolen base and now with a walk. what more could you ask for?
HA. look at that!
Hamstring tightness for Robert.

🥱
🤫
Lol, I saw the 23-5 above and thought it was a prediction for today’s score…damn it sounded about right.
C’mon, you should have known that wasn’t realistic … the Sox scoring 5 runs?
after they pitch a position player?
Eloy loves ground balls. He just loves them.
Bellinger was a part of quite a few Sox Machine OPPs, if I remember correctly.
And you know if the Sox had gotten him, instead of Clevinger let’s say, that he would have played like Nomar Mazara. B/c that’s just what players do when they come here.
Maybe this why Rick Hahn doesn’t invest in iPads
The AppleCare+ for Eloy’s iPad is under Jose Abreu’s name. It’s a whole thing.
So, when Tim and Hanser come back Tuesday, and if Benintendi doesn’t have to go on the IL, Romy and Sosa are being sent down, right? It has to be those two.
Agree. The most important question, who gets sent down when Yoan returns? Has to be Sheets, right? I would give Haseley a chance.
Colas would be my vote. need a new GM badly to start clearing room on the 40 man.
Are you suggesting DFA’ing Colás? That seems extreme to me.
Well, it was nice while it lasted. So briefly.
Which happens first?
Sox win 10 games
Rays lose 10 games
I’ll answer that by saying that I’m much more confident that the Rays will lose 10 games eventually.
Yaz!

Oh cool, I hadn’t noticed that yet. That will be useful.
A 3-2 lead, now it’s the 7th inning. Game over. What could go wrong?
I dunno, a reliever other than Hendriks comes in, maybe?
welp, things are going as planned…
Can we pronounce Lopez’s comeback as over, or an aberration? He has looked basically like 2019/20 Lopez. A shame, I think putting him as closer messed with his head, and he is now totally messed up psychologically again. Which makes him useless as a pitcher. Along with the rest of the pen.
Elvis TOOTBLAN
A useful Joe Kelly makes a rare appearance. Everything’s coming up Milhouse!
Interesting, Robert pinch hitting
HBP on 0-2 then taken out for a pinch runner. That felt like an over-the-hill Roger Dorn in Major League 2, where he’s put in just to take a HBP and is taken out immediately.
Welp
I concur
Hitting: should have scored more with bases loaded and only 1 out in the 7th. Defense: probably should have turned that double play. Of course, pitching was the primary failure with Lopez. Everything is a failure.
We’re cursed
But Haseley will hit again, which gives us a chance.
unless this inning never ends
Lopez was feeling hurt before pitching but failed to tell the coaching staff. However, he did tell Elvis and Eloy that they may have to make some spectacular plays behind him for all of the hard hit balls he was about to give up. Eloy keeps telling everybody that he’s not playing defense to no avail.
He is a hard worker, so I am not worried. Season is not over…it doesn’t feel that way.
Season is not over! I wake up each day, thinking “this is the day that good things are gonna start happening. The talent is here.”
I just got home, saw the Sox were up, and watched through the in game highlights on Youtube TV just to see that the Rays hit another home run right when it came live. This is painful.
Might as well brawl. The team might get better with some suspensions.
Can Joe Kelly’s groin stand up to another kerfluffle?!
As abstract performance art I would say this season is a resounding success.
And you wrote that before Romy dropped the fly ball.
Maybe Rick Hahn’s plan the whole time was to create the most Dadaesque baseball team of all time celebrate the centennial of the movement.
Andy Kaufman as President of Baseball Operations would explain a lot.
I guess I’m in the place where I’m excited when they’re doing good things, then I just laugh when it goes spectacularly south.
I hope the disaster is so absolute that it triggers profound change.
Graveman is garbage.
We don’t just lose every day. We embarrass ourselves every day.
hahaHAHA…..oh my God. I am laughing to not end. Romy Zobrist .. oh my. This ineptitude is nothing but hilarious at this point. Good Lord. This team is awful.
Remember when Romy Gonzalez was supposed to be the next best thing since sliced bread?
Actually, no.
If the Sox go into the 8th inning with a 2 run lead, their chances of trailing by less than 3 by the end of the inning are probably 1 in 5. Maybe less than that.
At least they didn’t score 10 there. Progress.
What’s really fun: Romy is probably going to have to hit in the spot previously occupied by Sheets and Robert with the team needing runs.
Hahn would only trade Romy if the right trade offer is presented to him. I guess nobody offered a pair of used bats.
This is a Double A team.
Rays radio clowning the Sox. “The Keystone cops continue.”
DTS offense!
Not even a strikeout can prevent Haseley from reaching base, he is a machine, a demi-god!!
Interesting, Haseley must not be on the email chain. Someone must’ve tried forwarding it to him but it didn’t get there in time.
So, Rick, what do you think?
Those are way better than any plans Rick has had.
I thought the second one was the sanest I’ve heard in a while.
The second idea has a chance to be the most effective coaching in the organization this season. Yes, please.
Savannah Bananas!
I am shocked, shocked that Bummer walked the first man.
I am not shocked though that he came around to score before I could finish posting this.
LOL
Lets be honest though, once youve accepted this, it is quite entertaining in a funny way. You’d think it was scripted but it is truly a genuine thing that is going down. Watching these games late, I feel bad for the white sox, I pity them. they are already dead why are they playing still? not great but irony kills in comedy lol
so you’re saying there’s a chance?
Romy coming into the game (dropped fly for a run and useless at bat to start this inning) looms large.
I miss Yolmer
We don’t like defense. guy gets a gold glove and we don’t extend him. We have replaced him with guys who aren’t gold glovers and can’t hit. go us.
Wow, if I’m the Rays, I walk Vaughn to get to Romy here.
that’s going to be the #1 question for the Rays….
Wut?!?
This is a crazy game.
OMG IT HAPPENED!!!!11ONE
Haseley is what the team as need all this time.
This game has left me very confused.
Vaughn! Everything is fine!! White Sox going to the Super Bowl!!!
LOL Count this as the least expected 9th inning comeback that I have ever seen!
I wonder how many people stuck around at the Rate for that strange finish?
I’m sitting here a my computer and didn’t even stick around I guess. Now I’m going to have to watch the recap.
Just saw a couple clips. Seems like there were maybe 1000 people in the park. But it was kind of rainy.
My god, they did it…those crazy sobs did it. while it wont be sustainable at all, 8 wins is closer to 10. GO SOX!
I’m happy for these guys. They celebrated like they won the WS. They needed this type of victories. I expect roster moves tomorrow. Haseley deserves more chances. Send Romy packing.
I only watched the 9th inning. No idea why I stuck around for the bottom of the 9th but so glad I did!! That was awesome!
>Me when the losing Streak is over
