Mark Payton should start every game the rest of the season.
Why does it matter?
I’d like them to use the rest of the season for something.

Nope.
I’d say shut down Moncada and Jimenez too and bring up Yolbert Sanchez or Sosa again and one of the other AAA outfielders. Nothing Moncada or Jimenez can do to change their season trajectory, but we might learn something about a couple of the AAA players.
Mark Payton is not part of the future. The time to use him was 4 weeks ago.
Precisely, why wasn’t Payton playing instead of a one-handed Robert? I get that a bit of hindsight is in play, no one knew how ineffective a semi-injured Robert would prove to be, but, Payton’s AAA production warranted giving him a call-up so Louis could heal.
Payton made more sense than an injured Robert. But his AAA Las Vegas numbers in ’19 were arguably superior to his Charlotte numbers. So, though I don’t trust the Sox evaluation of players, there is reason not to get too enamored with this season’s numbers.
Las Vegas is one of the few environments in Minor League Baseball that beats Charlotte for hitter-friendliness, and the PCL in general allows offense to go nuts.

Which is why I write “arguably.” His road numbers are nothing phenomenal this season. But if there is reason to think he has figured something out, then great.
I don’t think so either but maybe. I dont think Engel is an automatic tender, so 26th man is probably open.
Leury is the 26th man. I’m hopeful that Pollock is the 4th outfielder next year.
