Lenyn Sosa (Laura Wolff / Charlotte Knights)

While Lenyn Sosa probably misses the perks, pay and per diem of MLB life, the addition of Elvis Andrus is the best thing for his development.

With Andrus joining the White Sox and making his debut on Friday night, the White Sox optioned Sosa back to Charlotte, where he could resume building on his 23-game sample at Triple-A.

Sosa hit .114/.139/.229 with one walk against 12 strikeouts in 36 plate appearances, although he was at least able to tally his first homer. Among White Sox players with at least 30 PAs, Sosa had the second-highest swing rate to Luis Robert (60.9 percent), but by far the highest chase rate (57.3 percent, with Robert second at 48.5).

We’re familiar with this guy. It’s New Level Lenyn Sosa, the guy who tries to hunt fastballs before pitchers hunt him. It resulted in him chasing a bunch of fastballs out of the zone, and pitchers were better about doing it early and often.

His track record says he should calm down and eventually get a handle on the level, but as long as Andrus, Romy González and Leury García can account for two shortstops ahead of him, he’ll spend the rest of the season trying to conquer Triple-A pitching, which he was only starting to get around to when the White Sox recalled him.

Friday was a positive step in that direction:
