Jim – I’m surprised that you didn’t list the Cardinals among the teams the Sox should try to emulate. They’ve had a tremendous run with very few losing seasons, and have done so in a mid-size market. Why the omission?
I’m not sure it’s as easy to identify what the Cardinals do philosophically different from other teams–they just seem to do most things better than the average team. I guess they could try to hire Mike Girsch as president of baseball ops.
It is kind of strange to see teams like the Orioles, Guardians of Traffic, and Cardinals being effortlessly good while the White Sox toil and spend themselves into a quagmire. Promotions for everyone!
