Now see how easy that is!!

As Cirensica

I am not thrilled Pollock is leading off while facing a RHP

Yolmer

Damn Eloy is strong. I might kind of punk out and just trade Sheet in my offseason plan project. I know it’s a glut, but I just don’t want to trade Eloy or Vaugh, and they need to bring back Abreu. Eloy and Vaughn are pretty transcendent hitter though.

Adam

Some day this staff will learn the importance of throwing strikes

Nellie Fox

Please, in my lifetime.

As Cirensica

Welp

Success is fleeting

soxygen

Dylan Cease gave up 3 runs without Andrew Vaughn’s help

upnorthsox

So it’s not all Vaughn’s fault?

calcetinesblancos

I don’t want these games to be easy; this team and their sleepy manager need to wake the hell up and play like they want to win.

Adam

I got a feeling you’re gonna get your wish. Through 122…. I think 3 have been easy. 5 at most

As Cirensica

As a side show note:

The tweet is in Spanish, but Guillen is responding to the comments by Lui Blasini who is in charge of the Venezuelan team for the World Classic. Blasini said he didn’t interview Guillen to manage the Venezuelan team because “He wanted the manager of Venezuela to be a person holding a MLB job”…Guillen of course, couldn’t stay quiet, he fires back “I hope he (Blasini) does not play dirty to Omar (Malave, the selected Venezuelan manager). I’m not perfect, but I am not Judas”

calcetinesblancos

That’s doesn’t sound like the Ozzie I know.

As Cirensica

Why is Andrew Vaughn not playing again?

soxygen

A day without double plays? If the thinking is to have Abreu, Sheets, and Eloy in the lineup while having two competent outfielders then I could understand that. Who knows what the actual reasoning is, though!

he’s been scuffling his last 6 games .439 OPS

As Cirensica

🤔

soxygen

I’ve been curious though about what the scouts & player dev staff think about both Vaughn and Sheets getting so few opportunities to play their natural/scouted position

charlie

Maybe get Jake Burger up here?
What a novel concept

charlie

in terms of ineptitude our 3B at the plate definitely rivals our manager in the dugout.

Adam

It’s comical that our hitters have decided today!!! Today is the day we’re gonna pull the ball in the air

charlie

Our daily middle of the order 3B doesn’t lower his body on a pitch that’s down so he has no ability to do damage let alone even make contact

Nellie Fox

Just started with watching the game. How many times has moncada struck out and why is he still in the majors batting less than 200 in the end of august?

As Cirensica

Yoan Moncada’s OBP is at .268. It’s no longer a small sample size.

That rank 202 out of 216 players with as many as 300 PAs. The White Sox will be paying him at least $47.6 Million in the next 2 years.

Yikes.

Nellie Fox

Just looked, moncada is batting 5th, wow. He should be able to strike out multiple times with a runner in scoring position. Also, where is vaughn?

As Cirensica

Good question. I asked about it above.

Adam

Maybe Luis Robert is a golf fanatic. Wondering if he’s trying to score runs on the fewest possible pitches.

soxygen

Nice job by Robert there getting back to the bag

#RISPLOL

Foulkelore

Ozzie doesn’t get to be a manager again until he understands that hitting a ball hard is better than hitting it softly.

Adam

If we could elevate I’d agree but otherwise I’m with Ozzie. We’ve been hearing about xba all year, the power will come, yada yada and it never has.

So we’re stuck with rocket singles. And in addition to being caught often, a line shot also prevents our runners from advancing more than one bag. Which is why it takes 4 hits to get 1 run.

So either hard high, or soft low, but not hard low. Hard low sucks. Hard low is 2-3 runs per game

Nellie Fox

What? Robert is watching? Lazy

soxygen

I didn’t see it, but DJ said Robert would have had a triple if he had been running all the way. Ugh.

Whoom

I saw it. Be glad you didn’t. If my 17yo did that he would be benched for at least this game if not a whole weekend.

Adam

Consequences? These are the big leagues. None of those here

HallofFrank

He *might* have made it to 3rd but far from a guarantee. He probably could have made it to 3rd with all out hustle out of the box, but I doubt he would have risked it with no outs. Mullins got to the ball quickly. But it did look really bad.

abehickock

I think whether he would have made it to third or not is not the point. He should be running hard out of the box regardless.

Nellie Fox

Wow, this lack of a manager who knows baseball in todays game is getting old.

OldMMJ87

Benetti and Stone pointed out that Mateo had reverse splits, so Tony of course brings in the righty and Mateo gets a base hit to make it a two-run game. This is not second-guessing. It hasn’t been second-guessing for quite some time this year.

Nellie Fox

Then throw a 77 mph curve ball ln your first pitch,

mrridgman

TLR understands right vs right, don’t confuse him with splits. He’s too old for that.

As Cirensica

The Rays brought a position player to pitch against the Angels. It’s a blowout…favoring the Rays. That gotta hurt some ego.

As Cirensica

This man on 3B with fewer than 2 outs and not scoring is getting on my nerves.

Foulkelore

After getting hit by 102 mph, hopefully Eloy was just taken out for precautionary reasons and to put a fast runner on first as the go ahead run. Hit a gap, and Engel can score.

HallofFrank

White Sox baseball: singles, until you need one.

roke1960

Jose is now 0-8 with 1 RBI with the bases loaded this year. He has 3 RBI to go along with 21 hits in his last 15 games. That’s what I call hitting in the clutch

That was a good AB. Ballsy call for the high heat knowing if he doesn’t swing it’s a run.

roke1960

Everyone knows he’s going to swing at a high fastball. Striking out with the bases loaded and the game on the line is not a good at bat.

dsbatt

I can’t remember the last hit we had with the bases loaded.

a-t

CHW baserunners: 16
BAL baserunners: 8

CHW tot bases: 21
BAL tot bases: 12

The wonders of sequencing. And baserunning.

metasox

Sequencing is a factor. But pitchers are also good at bearing down when it really matters. Which the Sox don’t seem to have an answer for

ChiSoxND12

And the Sox obvi need optimal sequencing more than most anybody bc they don’t get those hits that automatically score every runner including the batter-runner. I forget what those are called, the name is eluding me!

ChiSoxND12

I’ve thought Harrison stood out as even more woeful w RISP/clutch this season, anecdotally. Then yesterday Len said that in 19 PAs with a runner on third and less than 2 outs, he has 3 RBI on the year
