Colson Montgomery having a day off two days after the break and a day before the team’s off day raised my eyebrows a bit. I hope he’s not injured.

BenwithVen

probably load management since this is his first full season

or he’s busy traveling to Bham

That’s a pretty roundabout way of getting to Denver

Torpedo Jones

Look at Jared Kelley – going 4+ innings with only 1 ER and 7K’s. Over his 8 starts in June and July, he’s recorded a 2.30 ERA. I hadn’t looked at his stats recently because I was afraid I’d be disappointed, but it turns out I was pleasantly surprised!

BB:K isn’t great over that span outside of this last start, but also no homers allowed. Kid’s still just 20.

Colas and Cespedes…pretty exciting stuff. Don’t weeeeee need some outfielders? These guys are 23 and 24 years old with a bunch of pro experience.

I doubt that Cespedes provides anything that Robert or Engel don’t at this point, but I’d imagine Sheets’ role as “left hander than can stand in the outfield” is in jeopardy next Spring if Colas keeps raking.
