Just tuning in…who is this Gil? Never heard about.
And just like that…Leury is on fire lately
Pollock also heating up 🔥
Poor Osvaldo Bido. He’s having himself a nice year in AAA. He’s making a case to pitch in Pittsburgh. Then he runs into Andrew Vaughn on a rehab assignment.
Ok…so Cease is having a down game. It can happen. DK will tame the Yankees.
I mean, kinda. If Stanton wakes up sick this morning, this may be one of the best starts of Cease’s career.
Stanton has what the kids these days refer to as “game power.”
Yeah, I didn’t think either one of them had a chance to go out. Strange pitching performance — either a strikeout or an extra base hit
Keep leaving that fastball up to Stanton Cease?
Good game by Pollock so far.
Nice to have Moncada back!
I don’t know that we appreciated how important Yoan is until he was gone for a month. Good to see him back and poppin
Three straight walks with 2 outs to get to the guy with the .343 ISO is not ideal.
And the guy with the .343 ISO scores 2 runs with an infield single. Baseball sure is something.
To be fair, the infield hit did have an exit velocity of 75.4 mph.
Sox are 4th in MLB for reliever BB% and it sure feels that way
Huh, well, this sure got out of hand in a hurry. Five pitches into this inning there were 2 outs and nobody on.
I have a feeling the Sox will deeply regret signing Kelly instead of Tepera before the season is done.
On a positive note, we have Velasquez and Keuchel back to back to shut the Yanks down. What could go wrong.
The Sox are gonna be like one of those schools in the NCAA tournament that win their tiny conference and then get crushed in the first round, aren’t they?
Do you promise that we’re going to win our tiny conference?
They are the fighting Illini of baseball, with the worst coach in professional sports.
Because it is my duty to always clown on Illinois basketball I’ll point out that even the deeply dysfunctional and perpetually disappointing White Sox have won a championship.
Let’s keep the Illini basketball mocking off this board. We’re all White Sox fans here so let’s focus on what we agree on.
The fact I attended U of I for over a decade and have an Orange and Blue profile picture has no influence on my views on this. 🙂
I assure you my universities absolutely deserve clowning upon for many reasons too but I will never say what they are to avoid said clowning 🤫
Scoring more than 4 runs in a game is clearly overrated
We should get Grandal one of those pie plate, knuckleballer mitts.
I really don’t know how long they can keep LaRussa around. His managerial decisions are atrocious. Letting Kelly continue to walk guys and then not bring Banks in to face the lefty, but to face Stanton? That’s really bad management. He just did not anticipate anything that inning. After Kelly walked a couple of guys, Graveman should have been up. He is going to drag this team down with him. He really, really needs to go.
He is the worst coach in all 3 major professional sports, bar none. Has to be.
Only two people his age have ever coached a professional sports team. Nobody in the NFL or NBA over 73 ever has. In MLB there have only been two others over 74. One was Jack McKeon who at age 80 came back after several years and did not finish the season. The other was Connie Mack like 80 years ago. Perhaps it’s because the physical and mental demands of coaching a pro sports team are not a good fit for someone who is almost 80, and clearly is not close to mentally sharp or even very alert.
You really have to wonder what Hahn is thinking. This is ridiculously poor managing by Jerry’s boy. But I’m sure Jerry thinks he’s doing a great job.
Jerry probably isn’t mentally sharp enough himself to evaluate how TLR is doing. TLR is a quarter of a century older than the average age of the other AL managers, which is 52! That’s bleeping nuts. Any halfwit who has any coaching experience and is a decade or more younger could do a better job, and would undoubtedly bring better energy to this team.
Jerry said no.
*and he giggled
Yeah, I couldn’t believe they didn’t even go out to talk to him after 2 walks or after ball one to the hitter after the 2 walks. They then should have had someone good warming during that talk (like your mention of Graveman) to bring in once that third batter walked.
There’s no way way they would have handed the job to him if they thought this was a team that was still building. They wanted to gift him a championship to right the wrongs of 40 years ago. The combination of thinking the roster going into 2021 was complete and then handing the reins to TLR is such a devastating combination of incompetency it makes me wonder what the point is in cheering for such a dysfunctional organization.
Just came in the house after that inning. What a mess. Several thoughts. One, Kelly had Torres struck out twice according to GameDay strike zone. Not called. But, TLR had no one up like Graveman or Hendricks to back up Kelly, so when Kelly walked Gonzalez, TLR couldn’t make a change, which he should have to face Torres. And, then, why Tanner Banks, AAA pitcher at best? Next, what in the world was Garcia doing trying to make that play on the SS side of 2B. It was a ground ball to short. Cover the bag for a force at second. Like I said earlier this week: undisciplined sloppy defense. Lastly, both Abreu and Robert are pull happy right now. All ground outs to short. Why don’t they try to go the opposite way? It has worked for both of them in the past.
This organization is rife with problems. Roster construction; on field management; coaching; minor leagues. Look at the other side of the field. They know how to win. We, our people, they just know how to be loyal to JR.
Two just incredible takes by Torres right there. When you end up losing by 8 runs, it’s hard to maintain that just 2 pitches flipped the script. But man.. everything’s gotta start somewhere.
