Oh no, Tim’s hurt

soxygen

For crying out loud…can we have some joy in Mudville?

Foulkelore

Envisioning the offense without Tim for a while, no, there will be no joy available.

funkerdan

good thing we can’t score negative runs

asinwreck

If you were saving money for playoff tickets, you have disposable income this fall. That’s the good news.

Foulkelore

More good news: there are enough key guys out that I can go back to fooling myself that the offense will be just fine once we get Robert, Moncada, Eloy, and Tim back.

billyok

Not to mention all the tickets I won’t buy in June, July, August and September! New Mac baby!

As Cirensica

Truly amazing the hitting ineptitude of this team. Baffling.

Foulkelore

This feels like the worst White Sox offense I’ve ever seen, and it is. I started watching the Sox in the early 90s. So far, this year’s offense is the worst they’ve had in my history watching this team. Only 2013 and 2015 come close (pick your favorite stats – they are all bad):
2022: .650 OPS, 3.60 runs/game
2015: .686 OPS, 3.84 runs/game
2013: .680 OPS, 3.69 runs/game

As Cirensica

WOW

Foulkelore

It looks to expand further back for our more experienced fans. This offense, so far, is the worst White Sox offense since 1968. You know, 1968, the year that was so bad for offense that they lowered the mound. They had an OPS of .595 and scored a robust 2.86 runs/game that year.

billyok

I thought I’d seen everything that could happen in a baseball game but I’ve never seen a team’s entire offense get hurt on one play before.

As Cirensica

Is TLR never gonna use our good bullpen arms?
This is fucking ridiculous

funkerdan

They called the bullpen at least 3 times to see if he was ready… or maybe they were getting dinner orders..

soxfan

I mean … Cease did his job by getting the ground ball which implies La Russa did his by allowing him to face the batter. Burger botched the play. All for hammering bad managing but not sure that’s a good example of a bad example.

As Cirensica

Cease allowed 2 walks. That should have never happened.

As Cirensica

Graveman easy 8th could’ve been the 7th, and this game could still be tied

jhomeslice

Yeah but the Sox would still have to score a run eventually to actually win. They might not score again until mid June.

As Cirensica

It doesn’t make that decision to be incorrect

jhomeslice

Of course not, and I would probably never defend TLR even if he did something right. Just saying, when they score zero, they are going to lose eventually anyway.

jhomeslice

well now, in hindsight, TLR cost them a 1-0 win. I stand corrected!

As Cirensica

His bad decisions are costing this team dearly when we have no margins for errors

Foulkelore

Wow, that was just an awful, awful at bat by McGuire

jhomeslice

Bases loaded, one out, Reese and Harrison coming up. Do we even need to watch?

I doubt June is going to be a fun month to watch this team, even if Tim is only out a couple weeks. I’m close to cutting my losses and checking back after the allstar break. If they improve, great. But if they don’t, it won’t be a bad thing to avoid watching this slow motion train wreck.

funkerdan

I always watch my train wrecks in slow motion.

funkerdan

This game is slowly turning into one

funkerdan

Sometimes trains wreck and everyone survives. except the cubs and their fans. no one cares about them anyway.

jhomeslice

Twins are up 6-0. If the Sox lose this one they will be 6 out, heading into a 9 game stretch against the Jays, Rays, and Dodgers – without Tim. They might be lucky to go 3-6.

Augusto Barojas

I’m betting we will see either Leury or Harrison leading off with TA out, at least once.

As Cirensica

Pathetic

dsbatt

Am forced to watch game on marquee network. 2 observations:
1. Half the game was presented via half screen because they had a ton of player / coach interviews and insist on showing the person talking at expense of action on field. Unbelievably bad.

2. Jim Deshaies got a nice dig into Sox outfield positioning. Top of 9th man at third one out and outfield was basically at the warning track. He couldn’t understand why because he is smart enough to deduce a deep fly makes it insurmountable 2 run game anyway. Was actually a smart comment and really embarrassing coaching on TLR staff.

dsbatt

Jim Deshaies again pointed out terrible outfield positioning of Sox down 2-1 in 10th.

Foulkelore

McGuire and Harrison in key at bats Part 2: Electric Boogaloo?

Foulkelore

No, more interesting – Moncada is able to pinch hit.

soxygen

#wildpitchoffense is exactly why TLR should have tried to keep it close yesterday when we were down only 3-1 through 6 innings

dsbatt

Wow. Bunt run. Question? Why Lopez? Graverman couldn’t go beyond one inning when he has next week off? Hendricks couldn’t do a 2nd with tmrw off? I’m at a loss. Can we dream of TLR Firing on off day tomorrow?

jhomeslice

TLR is a fucking douchebag. This team has a lot of problems, and is going nowhere without a different manager. His manager WAR would probably be -4 already. Today’s loss for sure is on him.

soxygen

As someone said earlier, probably in a different thread, TLR always seems to be waiting for a tomorrow that never comes. Earth to Tony: these games in April and May count so play to win.

billyok

Can’t fire a manager whom you hired for no reason besides the incumbent owner feeling bad he got fired 3 1/2 decades ago. He’s here until he decides he wants to retire.

billyok

The Unearned Run Cup, a real clash of immortals here

asinwreck

The embalmed are immortal in a way.

soxygen

It will all come down to Leury at some point.

Foulkelore

He’s the only position player left, so he’ll have to pinch hit for the pitcher spot coming up in the bottom of the 11th, since they burned the DH.

asinwreck

The only way the Sox win this is if a reliever gets a hit. #RememberMattAlbers

soxygen

Je me souviens, as they say around here

Foulkelore

VV has a career .204 batting average. That’s better than a sad amount of Sox position players.

funkerdan

nothing to do with that but I did see him throw out Abreu in Philly.

asinwreck

He’s also one of the team’s four best defensive outfielders.

Foulkelore

They must score on Gsellman as retribution for not having a vowel between the g and s in his name.

dwjm3

Both of these teams are brutal

soxygen

The punch line is that when Stoney says “left handed hitters have really hit him” what that means is that we better hope Leury Garcia can get a hit here.

denman

Can we at least plate the ManfredMann in the bottom of 11th? Even if the Sox manage to win this one, Very little good comes out of this game other than Cease’s return to form.

soxygen

There goes our remaining position player bunting with a runner on 2nd

billyok

This is agony

denman

And it just won’t end.

mrridgman

Two bad teams trying to out-dupe each other.

asinwreck

It’s like the final two rounds of an Ali-Frazier slugfest…staged in 2009.

soxygen

Tony’s idea of out-duping the other team’s manager is using his last remaining position player to bunt…Oy…

dwjm3

Ted Barrett’s strike zone is expanding. He is sick of these two teams as well

Joliet Orange Sox

The only thing I would’ve enjoyed less than winning this ugly mess would have been losing this ugly mess.
