We miss Moncada’s glove at third.
And today we miss Burger’s bat.
Harrison/Leury over Burger. No reason Burger should not play 3b every day if he is healthy. Harrison should be at 2b, Burger at 3b, and Leury on the bench.
How many botched lineups have we seen in the past year? Too many to count. I’m not convinced that TLR is not the worst in MLB.
Jason B just said Robin Ventura hit a triple in the first game the Rays played in Chicago back in 1998. He’s gotta be making that up, right? Robin Ventura hit a triple?!? Have I forgotten some rule that allowed glacially slow runners to skip running some of the bases?
I thought Ventura started out his career with some abysmal hitless streak?
I’m not sure what this question has to do with Ventura allegedly hitting a triple against the expansion Rays in 1998 but I’ll answer it.
Ventura was a September call-up in 1989 and got some hits during his cup of coffee. In 1990, Ventura won the job as everyday third baseman and started the season hot for about a week and a half. I remember he hit his first MLB home run in the last game of that good start because it was almost 3 weeks before he got another hit. Ventura went 0 for 41 during that hitless streak and there were a lot of calls to send him down to the minors. Cranky old men Sox fans such as my dad were convinced that the home run had ruined him and that he was trying to hit a homer every time when he was a singles hitter.
Someone with a better memory can fill in more details or correct me.
Why on earth is Leury hitting sixth and Vaughn hitting ninth???
To kill rallies?
I for one am just grateful Leury is not hitting 3rd or 4th.
Kopech seems to have settled in nicely after a rough first inning.
Really nice outing for him. Great to see him go 5 as well, vs a very good team. I think he is going to give them a lot more innings than people were assuming he would be limited to.
Wander is such a good hitter
I just don’t believe Lopez is going to have success against good teams very often. I think time will prove that out.
