Maybe he caught wind that people were comparing him to Avi Garcia and it got under his skin.

I can’t believe they are playing in this, but I love it

Does anybody know if the rule still holds that all games called due to rain pick up where they left off? During the pandemic they changed to count everything, but I have no idea if that’s still the case, or if they went back to the old rules of not counting anything if the game isn’t official.
Having trouble finding an official statement, but it appears like the rules for suspended games maintained the pandemic change that games will pick up where they left off. Looks like it’s about to be moot for this game.
Keuchel finished the 5th (which I assume is the end of his day) having given up 5 IP, 5 K, 0 BB, and 3 ER. I’ll take it given the state of pitching right now around baseball. His ERA is 5.40 which is above the 5.00 talked about on the podcast but I’d still call his performance serviceable.
Keuchel was going for his 100th career win and was more than holding his own against the reigning Cy Young winner. You gotta let him get through the 5th so he earns the win. Kevin Cash, and others of his ilk, might have pulled him when he struggled in the 5th. But, you have to say it’s Keuchel game til he gets through 5 as long as we have the lead. He’s earned the right to have a chance to get the win. I’m happy the Sox have a manager, in TLR, who understands that.
Karma for Carlos Guillen stepping on home plate on his series-walk-off bunt in the 2000 playoffs. Plus all the weird years of having to go to Seattle and play in the Kingdome on the bouncy turf.

Did TLR really need to leave Keuchel in there in the 5th until the lead was almost gone, seriously?
Is Jose Ruiz…. good? He did look pretty good in low leverage last year, but if he can do that in higher leverage that would be pretty damn useful. If that change sticks around he’ll have respectable platoon splits too. Ethan Katz needs his salary doubled.

Was very likely before this game began that Keuchel would outpitch Ray. Who could have thought otherwise?
I certainly didn’t think so! Pleasantly surprised. They were squaring up Ray frequently tonight.

Kuechel looked pretty decent tonight overall. Engel once again proved why he’s a valuable asset. Ruiz was a pleasant surprise tonight with that change up. They really weren’t fooled by Ray from the get go. Centered him up quite a bit. Stinks that Eloy (ankle), and Harrison (back spasms) had to leave for injuries. Hope they’re not too serious.

Gotta be happy winning two of the first three with two of our worst pitchers. They can lose tomorrow and still have had a very good series considering the pitching matchups.
I had faith Liam would not blow a 3 run lead, and would be better than he has been so far. He made it close! I should never tempt fate and talk about a win until the last out.
There’s what happens when Eloy gets the ball in the air. More of that please.

Yep, close to not mattering, but good to know. Thanks!
I know it’s kinda a small sample, but Dallas has a health 18Ks per 9 right now.

He didn’t need to finish the 5th. Was a decent outing for him, but he didn’t need to be out there until it almost turned into a bad one.

Sox also cannot keep burning the bullpen. This is only the 2nd time a starter made it through 5
Amusingly, Seattle never seems to catch any breaks when they play here. Ray pitching in a monsoon inning is just the latest.

Why did Leury bat for Eloy?
Never mind, looks like it was an injured ankle. Any word on how bad it looks?
He fouled a ball off it, so most like just a bruise/swelling.
They just reported x-rays are negative, so that’s really good. It’s not a ligament injury or anything, so probably just a bruise.
If Vaughn hits .460, they don’t even need Pollock.
Then why did we trade future Hall of Famer Craig Kimbrel?
Vlad with 3 bombs tonight, 2 off Cole. Dude is unreal, just like his dad.

On my tv this game is still going on. How do you know the Sox won?
the very pricey bullpen is doing its job. you can depend on star relievers like [squinting] kyle crick and jose ruiz?
