I think you give him a qualifying offer and he turns it down. From the way he was talking, he seems pretty confident in his health and his stuff. Add Scott Boras on top of that, and I think he hits the open market for a longer deal.

Root Cause

I bet you are right. If I were him, I too, would say that I am in good health. Add Boras, and he was saving himself for 2022. I agree with QO and let him and the market set what he is worth. After all he has been through, I hope gets 40 million so long as it isn’t us.
