Is there any consideration of a starter going on the road vs. going at home? For instance, if we’re only comfortable with the health and effectiveness of 3 pitchers, then the game 1 starter would come back on short rest for game 4. The game 2 starter would have full rest for game 5, but both starts would be on the road.
Between Giolito and Lynn, is one better equipped to pitch on 3 days rest? And is one better suited to pitch twice in Houston?
The ultimate answer is to win in 3 games. After all, we’ve never lost to Houston in the postseason. No reason to start now.
