White Sox Minor Keys: Aug. 3, 2021

Luis Robert (Laura Wolff / Charlotte Knights)

A couple things to look for as a fresh week of minor league baseball got underway on Tuesday:

Rehab stints: Luis Robert and Jake Lamb hit the road with the Knights to Gwinnett.

Micker Adolfo and Jake Burger: Wes Helms said they could be back in the lineup as soon as Tuesday. They were not, so we’ll see if their wrist and shoulder-area injuries are worse than initially let on.

Draft picks: Adam Hackenberg, a catcher drafted out of Clemson in the 18th round and signed for $125,000 made his debut in Arizona on Tuesday, which I believe makes him the first of the drafted position players to take the field.

Based on a small sample, should we be concerned by Robert’s absence of power in these rehab games?

The giant plus sign issue seems to be back

With the reshuffling of the minors and seeing some of the numbers our guys are putting up, I’m wondering if the reputation of AA as the place with the best pitching talent will still hold true going forward.

  • Yoelqui Céspedes went 1-for-3 with a double, walk and homer.

VERY impressive to get that double and homer out of the 1 hit

So is Adolfo basically done with the Sox? He’ll play out the rest of the the year, but does he need to be on the mlb roster next year or basically bye-bye, waiver?

Is Rutherford in the same boat? I think he has options.

When would they have to trade Micker before exposing him to the Rule 5 Draft? Seems like you could convince a rebuilding team to take him for relief pitcher or someone marginally useful

Adolfo was placed on the 40-man roster way back in 2017 to avoid exposing him to the Rule 5 draft. I don’t think that’s the issue going forward. I think he will be out of minor league options in 2022, and might be some type of free agent?

You’re right. It’s an out-of-options issue, not a Rule 5 issue

IIANM, Spring would be the time the Sox need to make a decision though they may want to open a roster spot before then. Maybe if he goes unclaimed, he could stick in the org longer.

Comments look normal to me now (they did not as of 2 hours ago).

Same. Appears fixed to me. Didn’t work a little while ago

Yup..working on Microsoft Edge browser

Yolbert and Romy are mashing in AA. Does anyone think that had something to do with the Sox willingness to trade Madrigal?
