White Sox Minor Keys: Aug. 10, 2021
With a fresh week upon us, three of the four full-season affiliates had exciting promotions to announce:
- Charlotte: Received RHP Kade McClure.
- Birmingham: Received SS Lenyn Sosa
- Winston-Salem: Received SS Jose Rodriguez and OF Caberea Weaver
- Kannapolis: Received RHP Taylor Broadway
There are no new faces yet on Kannapolis’ box score or roster, although the team’s roster isn’t updated online.
We discussed four of these in Farm Fortnight, but Weaver is one I didn’t anticipate. He was hitting .209/.305/.340 with a 35-percent strikeout rate with 17 stolen bases in 22 attempts. He had some weeks that were markedly better than the average and hinted at a greater breakout, but because you know how averages work, you know that he also had weeks that dragged him down, including the last two.

Wonder if Grandal might be about to start a rehab assignment in the coming days (perhaps this weekend with Winston-Salem?)
It will be Birmingham. There is other important news in that tweet as well.

LaRussa mentioned it is likely to be longer than the minimum stay. I can’t tell if he is actually hurting or if this is a gimmick to rest him up for the playoffs.
Rodon to the 10 day IL
Not sure about the Knights’ hashtags, #FunKnights #ArmorUp. With those letters in that order, my eye initially tricked me into reading something more like #F**Ks*Up
Yoelquiโs last 21 games: .938 OPS, 22% K rate.
The Giants like White Sox outfielders. They are hoping this works out better than the Basabe claim.
