Keuchel needs to redeem himself against the A’s
Maybe not today
Definitely not today… Keuchel working his way out of a playoff roster spot
This aged poorly
Indeed, and I am glad it did.
The lack of command Keuchel…over and over again
His cutter is never effective Steve…his stuff is garbage
Rey-Lo ใ Keuchel
I seem to remember a couple weeks ago mentioning DK needs to not be in the rotation and getting laughed at. Seems everyone now wants him out.
I don’t want him out. I could be convinced if someone presented a plan to replace him in the rotation that made sense. I haven’t seen such a plan yet.
He can munch innings but his presence in the playoff is doubtful
I replied to a comment about pulling Keuchel from the rotation not the playoff roster.
At least we are making Montas to work hard. He might no go beyond 5 innings
I thought Chapman was a terrific fielder…
Some seem to want to crucify Keuchel. He has not been good, but has also not been THAT bad, not for a back of rotation guy. Today 5 innings, 2 runs. If they leave him in asking him to go 6 or more like they did vs the Twins and he gives up more, that’s TLR’s problem.
It was pointed out that his ERA the first two innings for his first 21 starts was like 2.5. Meaning he gets much worse later in games. I hope he does not start a playoff game but by all means he should have a roster spot.
Keuchel would only pitch in the playoffs if they were down a lot or up a whole lot. In that role, I trust him more than ReyLo, Ryan Burr, and probably Jose Ruiz. Even if they only go with 12 pitchers in a first round series, I think there is probably still a spot for Keuchel as a long reliever. He has been fine as a fifth starter even if the season overall has been kind of a disappointment.
Talk of him not having a roster spot for the playoffs is total nonsense.
A’s playing awful defense tonight
A Hall of Fame closer being used as a set up man …siiighhh
a Hall of what?
Kimbrel has pitched 613 ip in his career. Every pitcher in the hall of fame has more than double that except Sutter and Hoffman who both are over 1000 ip. Kimbrel may make it but it is far from a certainty.
Upon double-checking, Ruth also is less than double Kimbrel in innings pitched as Ruth only pitched 1221.1 innings in his career. Ruth obviously made the HOF as a batter more than as a pitcher but it is interesting that his bWAR as a pitcher (20.4) isn’t that much below Kimbrel’s (21.7).
If you include hitting, you gotta give the slight edge to Ruth. No disrespect to any Kimbrel fans!
As a hitter, Ruth has 162.7 bWAR and Kimbrel has 0.0 so I agree – Edge to Ruth!
Grooving those fastballs. Throw the curve.
Texag made the same point. Kimbrel has never been an 8th inning guy his entire career. All else equal, why not let him close since he has like 9 more years experience and 300 more saves than Hendricks? Why insist it should make no difference how they use them when maybe it does?
Tepera fumbled a bit starting his white sox career but he got it right eventually…Kimbrel taking more time to sttle down
