Michael B. Jordan was in Just Mercy, which we watched Friday when there was no baseball to watch. Excellent movie. Jordan was great. He would make a wonderful TA.

Finally caught up on this episode. Jim’s comment that the movie to be made of the game should be about how the locals managed the logistics of pulling the event off reminded me of another 1989 film made in the Iowa cornfields: Zadar! Cow from Hell.

Tonally far closer to Amazon Women on the Moon than Field of Dreams, Zadar! Cow from Hell is the story of an ethically-challenged director returning to his home town to make a low-budget horror movie. Complications ensure. (In real life, the difficulties making this film and the reception it received ended the career of Duck’s Breath Mystery Theatre, who gave us Dr. Science, Randee of the Redwoods, and Ian Shoales.) I imagine the film of the Field of Dreams game would go something like this.

“There is something in the cornfield, an evil that has no name: Zadar! Cow from Hell!”

The film is up on YouTube. If you’d rather get a sense of it in a couple minutes rather than the hour and a half, here’s an Ian Shoales monologue about it.
