Tommy Sommer!

Call him up. Designate Tepera.

So, I was going over the current major league roster this morning, and in my mind, it’s entirely possible Adam Engel gets sent down to Charlotte for the rest of August once Lamb’s rehab assignment is completed.

Engel has one minor league option left, which means they wouldn’t have to DFA anybody to bring Lamb back up if they wanted.

The only other option I can see is maybe sending Lopez back down, but that would mean they’d be rolling with a 7-man bullpen in the heat of August when it looks like Rodon needs a break.

How about back up catcher once Grandal comes back?

Brett R. Bobysud

That won’t be until late in August at the earliest. Can’t drop Seby or Collins until then and both Lamb & Robert will be ready beforehand.

For whichever of Lamb or Robert that comes up first, yes, Sheets goes down.

Question then is, who do you drop for the second one?

Drop Lamb or Hamilton or Goodwin. 0 reason to drop Engel, who should be starting most games at this point. Certainly every game against lefties, no? I’d send Vaughn down before Engel.
