I’d like to see them give Garcia fewer starts. If that means more starts for Mendick then so be it.
Burger is a thing that still exists.
He’s undoubtedly going to struggle at 2B but I’d at least see if he can on balance provide more value than the other two.
I’d rather have someone who already knows how to play second there for now – especially with Keuchel on the mound. But I am rooting for Jake this year. What a story!
Five pitch second inning for Ober….not good boys
I love the version of Moncada that hits home runs.
Say LaRussa the high leverage situation was the eighth not the ninth today
Thank you Jason Benetti for at least raising the question of using Hendriks in the 8th (prior to the Polanco homer). It will never happen in a world where there is a rule (unwritten) requiring closers to only pitch in save situations but it doesn’t seem like a crazy idea to me.
Way too many letdowns waiting to happen in that bullpen.
With this bullpen, 5 innings from your starter is absolutely not enough.
It’s probably time to burn the DH if Zavala gets up in a key situation here.
Good
It appears to have worked
Indeed! And now Tim gets a chance to extend that hit streak.
Crap…Hamilton to redeem TA
I thought pinch hitting for Zavala was the right play there (as obviously Foulkelore did since he posted it and then replied agreeing with himself and then liked both of his own posts! 😉 )
It worked because Engel is ahead of Hamilton on the Statcast sprint speed leaderboard.
Hah, I never like my own posts, even though it’s so tempting to do so!
Billy! Wow, I would not have let him hit there (would have pinch hit Burger, and either moved Garcia to outfield with Mendick at 2B, or just left in Vaughn). Glad it worked!
Twins when choosing relief pitchers: Colome, Coulombe, or Column C?
It would work better as a joke if Danny Coulombe changed the pronunciation of his surname.
If he refuses to accede to that perfectly reasonable request and continues to pronounce his last name just like the SI unit for electric charge, I think his new nickname should be “Sparky” and every time the the announcers should be required to describe his stuff as “electric” and every time he gives up a run the announcers should have to make a big deal about the run being “charged” to him.
Hawk says, “Stretch!”, but my BSEE degree requires me to like this.
He’s out. That’s game.
