Gameday replay showed Abreu down after Moncada’s RBI, seemingly away from the play. Looks like he still made it to bat. Anyone see or hear what happened?
Yep, it was odd. He was trying to get into position to tell Lamb to slide, as the on-deck hitter is supposed to do. While he was getting in position, the home plate ump took the bat and threw it behind him, to get it away from the plate. It was thrown right where Abreu was going and hit him in the legs, making him fall.
I think Yasmani’s safe, but he’s so slow. Lol.
Yes, I’m sure there’s a real-world site that I can find sprint speed, but I find it more fun to mention that his speed rating is 1 in MLB The Show. That’s 1 on a scale that goes to 99.
He’s in the 4th percentile according to baseball savant. I assume the others are also catchers.
I thought the home plate umpire last night was almost perfect (other than thinking HBP on Madrigal). Even when the Sox complained, it seemed like the call was right. Tonight’s home plate ump … not so much.
Oh man, Madrigal hurt and can’t walk off on his own. He was playing so well too.
Luis Robert was safe on his season ending injury, therefore he’s a better player.
Ugh. Get well soon Nick!
Yeah that didn’t look good
Where the hell is Herm, can he come back? This is getting ridiculous, two guys down (hopefully just one and another scare) running to first base, don’t remember that happening in one year.
I don’t think there would be anything Herm could do about those two. So unlucky though.
I remember Jim’s piece around the Sox having less player lost days due to injury when Herm was around so that’s what I was referring to. Their strengthening and injury prevention program might need to be reevaluated with all these leg injuries.
Tim cuts across the bag on a double play like a total dope…set your feet
Damn, got a break with him swinging 3-0 and giving you a perfect double play ball, and that happens.
Oof three runs that inning on one ball out of the infield
Well that was a big sh!tburger to eat.
If there’s a bunt this inning we’ll have the 2021 trifecta which is a bunt, an injury, and avoiding Hendriks in the highest leverage situation
I love a salty Steve Stone when a player annoys him with something.
Why on earth are we stealing third there?!?

Encouraging
That’s a “we don’t know anything except the location of the pain” explanation. They’ll do the imaging today and we may be in for some bad news.
This game, and series, was really good and well played right up until the Madrigal injury. Since then, this has been horrible baseball.
I wonder if they’re just going to burn Foster here and call up Fry for him tomorrow.
