White Sox Minor Keys: May 15, 2021

When the Kannapolis minor league franchise unveiled its new name back on Oct. 23, 2019, nobody expected that the first win of the Cannon Ballers era would have to wait until May 15, 2021.

Granted, the former Intimidators were not responsible for most of that dormant stretch, but they didn’t help matters by starting the season 0-10, including a no-hitter on Friday.

The Cannon Ballers are no longer 0-for-their-history. They’re now 1-for-their-history, as three Cannon Baller pitchers made a first-inning run hold up. Kannapolis’ front office couldn’t find the words.

Charlotte 8, Norfolk 3

  • Jake Burger doubled, singled and struck out thrice.
  • Gavin Sheets went 1-for-4.
  • Brian Goodwin was 0-for-4.
  • Jimmy Lambert: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR

Birmingham 9, Pensacola 3 (10 innings)

  • Micker Adolfo went 2-for-6 with a homer, the second of the Barons’ 10th inning. He also struck out once.
  • Carlos Pérez was 2-for-5 with an HBP.
  • Ti’Quna Forbes was 0-for-3 with a walk, HBP and strikeout.
  • John Parke: 8 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 9 K

Highlights:

*Adolfo’s homer:

Winston-Salem 5, Hickory 2

  • Lenyn Sosa went 1-for-5 with a strikeout.
  • Luis Curbelo continued to rake, going 2-for-4 with his fifth homer, third double and a strikeout.
  • Luis Mieses was 0-for-4 with a K.
  • Yolbert Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a strikeout.
  • Davis Martin: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

Notes:

Goodwin not exactly forcing the organization’s hand. So much for AAAA depth.

Indeed. What does an OPS of .400 at Charlotte translate to in the majors?

As Cirensica

It translates into 2015 Emilio Bonifacio
