Larry Vanover needs to hang it up. He has been terrible tonight.
He was absolutely horrible all night, and that outside slider to Leury is one of the worst strike calls I’ve ever seen.
With as many players we have that want to slide into first, is it possible we have an idiot in the organization teaching it? I swear I only see Sox players doing that. I don’t recall examples from other teams. Couldn’t a coach, maybe with hall of fame credentials, say “if I see you do it when there is no tag involved, I’m fining you $10k”.
I just see the clip of Josh Naylor diving at first base trying to ruin Rodons no hit bid in my head everytime I hear about first base slides. I think Jomboy did a video on it and essentially said “Well that guys getting plunked next time up” lol
