Lol Giolito the only starter that gives up runs

the starting pitcher scoreless streak lasted exactly from giolito’s last inning in his previous start to his first inning in this start

Danny looks slow running in right

soxfan

If Mendick can stand in RF, he shouldn’t be sent down for Goodwin and we should never see another Garcia/Hamilton tandem in the lineup.

Gio first inning:

102.7MPH EV Double
97.2MPH EV Single
106.5mph EV GIDP
109mph EV Groundout

WORRY!

dwjm3

He is struggling with fastball velocity. I agree it is a bit of a worry.

burning-phoneix

>50 pitches
>4 whiffs

WOOOOOOORRY!

huisj

He just looks . . . off. His “new” mechanics became so natural to watch the last few years, and all the sudden they just look out of sync.

That fastball he just got for called strike 3 was about the only pitch of that inning that looked right, like it wasn’t thrown tentatively.

Mercedes’ wheels

Just send Hamilton down to AAA and have Danny “Big” Mandick be the everyday RF.

Foulkelore

*Everyday RF against LHP (unless you think Eaton can still play CF, which I do not). I think they’ll need Hamilton on the roster until a second player who can play CF is available (Engel, maybe Goodwin).

soxfan

I’d be comfortable with Eaton in CF once a week as long as he’s only playing four times a week to stay fresh. If Mendick can play RF then you can rotate Garcia, Eaton, and Mendick through two OF spots and still have Hamilton as a PR and
defensive replacement.

burning-phoneix

Until Robert comes back I think the ideal setup is:

RF: Eaton/Mendick Platoon
CF:Leury
LF:Vaughn
Hamilton as PR and late inning defensive replacement. Goodwin pending until we see how he tunes up in AAA. Otherwise, DFA Hamilton because Goodwin is still pretty fast and a good fielder even if the bat doesn’t show up.

Foulkelore

Yep, I agree with that plan completely.

burning-phoneix

Oh I forgot. Engel slots in as everyday CF when he comes back. Gonna be a difficult decision on who to DFA then.

Joliet Orange Sox

I don’t think picking between Lamb and Hamilton for who to dfa is a difficult decision because you can’t go wrong dfa’ing either of them.

burning-phoneix

Oh yeah I completely forgot about Lamb. Yeah Danny should take his spot.

Foulkelore

If Goodwin has already taken Hamilton’s spot, I think it will come down to how useful Goodwin is vs. Lamb. At that point, Garica and Mendick can play infield, and I think Lamb is fairly useless on this roster.

Danny Mendick broke stat cast

Tony La Russa: I hope they hit 27 ball straight at him (Danny Mendick)

Yeah me too, Tony.

burning-phoneix

Royals: xBA .368 with 4 hits and zero runs
White Sox: xBA .192 with 6 hits and 6 runs

Thanks to the gold glove outfield defense of *checks notes* converted utility infielder Danny Mendick, converted utility infielder Leury Garcia and converted first basemen Andrew Vaughn

I could see Marshall being launched if we get another arm at the deadline

burning-phoneix

I don’t know what happened to Marshall. He was one of my favourite relievers but is looking just very vulnerable every outing this season.

soxfan

He can play 1B when we resign him as a FA. Until then, he’s a better two-way bet in left than any of the other likely candidates.

burning-phoneix

>Statcast has it as a .040 xBA easy fly
Silence machine, Let us enjoy this moment.

soxfan

Yeah, no, that wasn’t an easy play, unless he was set up in the least convenient location possible.

jorgefabregas

xBA is based only on launch angle and exit velocity. It doesn’t account for direction or starting point of the fielder.
You’re looking for catch probability, which I don’t believe is available instantaneously.
