I don’t hate the decision not to start Vaughn in a very soggy outfield. I do hate that we’re in the bottom of the barrel position to be starting our 5th(?) string LF for the home opener
Yeah. It’s better than listening to ex-presidents talk about how they trounced the guy who actually got more votes. It’s not better by much, but it’s better.
I think someone should put together a Netflix series of Pete Rose having conversations with out-of-office politicians where they alternate between talking about how great they themselves were and how great the other guy was and how they’ve been treated unfairly. (Actually maybe it would be better on advertiser-supported tv since the target audience is so well defined that commercials for certain types of products would sell themselves.)
It’s a little more interesting of a decision now that he’s in the upper 90s in pitch count. I think I would probably put him out there to start the 9th and see if he gets a quick out or two and can finish. Worst case, you can pull him after a baserunner and let the fans give him a nice ovation in his first start there.
I don’t remember that, but I joined the other site not long before the Great Schism, so it was probably before my time there. I’ll have to seek it out.
Welcome to the game where we bemoaned and lamented a Billy Hamilton trip to the IL
not me man. i rather see him on the il than in the starting line up.
No Hamilton means Nick Williams though. I am not entirely sure who is worse or whether or not there is a point to finding out that.
Check out the career -1.4 bWAR guy who didn’t play in 2020 replacing him.
I know who he is. I rather see Vaughn out there.
Just another formerly well-regarded prospect who has stunk in MLB.
And we were worried about Nick Williams, Starting Right Fielder. Silly us.
There’s still time for that! We’re only in early April.
We are dangerously close to Gavin Sheets, Blake Rutherford, and Micker Adolfo roaming the outfield here.
What are the odds of Travis Moniot in the starting lineup by August?
In terms of percentages, probably similar to his High-A OPS.
Despite his production, those odds are too high.
I wonder if La Russa would reflexively stump to call up James Beard as a Hamilton replacement. He’s incredibly fast!
I was trying to imply there’s a 0.347% chance of Moniot seeing MLB action this year. So round that down for an actual answer.
That was clear! Still too high.
Round further down then.

Eddie Rosario was the obvious move all off season to me.
Or Springer or Ozuna
So many options made a lot of sense. Rosario was one of them. Not a very expensive player.
Ozuna is only expensive when your owner is a cheap asshole.
You know what always gets me pumped up for White Sox home openers? Listening to Pete Rose brag about how great he was.
Yeah. It’s better than listening to ex-presidents talk about how they trounced the guy who actually got more votes. It’s not better by much, but it’s better.

Papa John’s as the sponsor.
They could sit around eating Papa John’s pizza using a knife and fork to eat the pizza slices while they talked.
I might watch if the Hangin With Hurt theme song is playing continuously in the background.
Feelin’ good. Feelin’ great, yeah. Feelin’ good. Feelin’ great.
Might as well just leave that front line worker out in LF at this point.
now that’s funny right there!
Can he bat left-handed?
That’s a bit unfair to raise the bar now.
Lynn is looking really sharp!
Very sharp. Striking out the side on 14 pitches is very impressive.
His efficiency today is remarkable. Given his manager, there’s a chance we’ll see a complete game.
Might as well. Day off tomorrow so Lynn will have extra rest.

M&M guy cardboard cut out in the house. Love it.
Moncada looked like he just flicked that out to the opposite field – 421 feet.
Mercedes just obliterated that baseball!
Statcast says 485 feet. Stone is skeptical.
Yeah, I don’t think I agree with Stone. It looked like every bit of that.
He is just amazing. That won’t be forgotten soon.
Not sure he’s ever going to have to pay for a meal in Cook County.
I feel like Karkovice hit some absolute bombs that hit the concourse back in th day.
I think we found ourselves a DH.
Nick Williams notwithstanding, having a great time so far
“Nick Williams Notwithstanding” would be a great title for the 2021 White Sox documentary if they do well this year.
6 runs up. Liam Hendriks time!
He can even get a save if he pitches the last three innings.
I don’t think there’s been one for the Sox since I wrote about the three inning save on the other site.
I don’t remember that, but I joined the other site not long before the Great Schism, so it was probably before my time there. I’ll have to seek it out.
Danny Mendick: not liking that he didn’t make the opening day roster.
Thank you, Lance. The bullpen absolutely needed that.
Yep, back-to-back days off to reset things is very nice.
They should do that every game
That’s awesome. He’s going to enjoy every bit of this after his long journey to get here.
