Hello, SoxMachiners!
For the last couple of months, I have been running $20 No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournaments via PokerStars’ free site on select weeknights, with payments handled via Venmo or Chase QuickPay. There’s usually either one or two games per week (mostly just one of late as baseball and other life activities have slowly come back). They’ve been a fun way to pass the time while we’re mostly stuck at home, and it could be a fun thing to do while you’ve got the game on as the White Sox come back to us.
We’ve been getting anywhere between 40-60 people per tournament and the games generally run from 8:00 PM CT to somewhere between 11:00 – 11:45 PM CT (note that if you’re in the game that long, you’re undoubtedly a winner).
If any of you from the SoxMachine community would be interested in playing in these games, please send me an e-mail at pnoles1@gmail.com and I can give you more information. It would be great to have another outlet to hang out with our community (albeit online), especially given that meetups are challenging for the time being.
Thanks, and here’s to a great 2020 (abbreviated) White Sox season!

I didn’t pick this picture (thanks for adding, Jim!), but the oddness of a 5-card poker hand that was “nothing” made me check to see if it was the exact 5-cards that Cool Hand Luke turned up, as I remember that being king-high.
No dice.
I picked the most boring hand I could find on purpose.
This sounds interesting.
Although I don’t gamble, and
I am not even sure how to play Texas Hold’em, and
I have never ventured into Poker Stars website and I wouldn’t know how to use it (I am guessing it ain’t hard)
I like the idea of hanging out with people from here. 40-60 people per tournament is a lot of people. Do you have to break them into groups?
It’s 9 people max per table. I should caution you that only a few people from the site have signed up, so at least for the time being, how much fun you have with it will probably be directly tied to how much you like poker.
Alright…I can try. I don’t like poker too much, but it is OK. I will probably lose within 10 minutes. To me it will be from 7 to 7:10 … The $20 only buys you a one night? I will email you.
Thanks
