I’m assuming we’ll know for certain by Pick 50 if these three are going to school or not.
Ugh, my pick Dingler goes 1st.
Ben Hernandez local south side kid. Great Change up. (Cubs fan)
All the College pitching intake
Most mocks I saw had him going much later. Good for him. I was hoping for him next round.
I wasn’t able to watch live yesterday— but I’m glad to be here now.
Not too happy about how well it looks like the Tigers and Royals have been drafting so far.

Also not sure if it’s just me or not but the site is lagging and acting weird and not letting me post and stuff like that. Might not be handling the surge in traffic well?
I think I might’ve figured out what was causing it to hang up here and there.
I’m not upset about Kelly. Very nice pick!
There are a couple things about him that bothered me as a first rounder, but in the second round? Giddyup!
Curious what you didn’t like? I know very little but from what I’ve read he’s a serious talent. 12 no hit innings with 34 K’s is hilarious.
Sounds like he has issues spinning a breaking ball which a lot of people think is something that’s more innate than coachable. Also sounds like it’s more two seamers than four seamers but I supposed that could be changed. I’m also just not a fan of HS arms in the first but I’m fine with it in the second round.
Since he was at least being talked about for our first pick, I love getting Kelley in the 2nd. I just hope we aren’t the only team that doesn’t know he’s going to college.
OK, Mike Shirley, you have my attention.
Lotta velo coming into the system.
Hypothetically, could the Sox take another tough-to-sign high schooler in the third round and punt picks 4 & 5, using that money to go over slot to sign them? Then just try to sign guys for the 20k undrafted slots to fill out the farm depth?
Good idea. I think I’ll call the strategy “Repeat 2019”. Or maybe it’s “Go Under Slot in Round 1”.
I dont think so. It would depend on how much Crochet is getting. If they can get him a bit under slot that may have been possible. But if he is getting slow, Its likely Kelley will command a huge number that we will have to go under on 3/4/5 to cover
LOL – the MLB commentators have barely even heard of our 3rd round pick. I think that answers our questions about how we would work out the finances with Kelley.
Hopefully, since this kid has local connections, we know something the other teams don’t. But even if this pick turns out to be nothing more than a cost-saving punt, I’ll take it to get Kelley in the 2nd.
Yeah, I think I’m going to lump the final three picks into one post.
Honestly, if we’re going to take players to sign massively underslot, a guy like Coffey who has a huge arm and unknown upside is the guy id like the Sox to do it with
Does he really have unknown upside or is he just unknown?
