Sox Machine Live!: Worst kept secret

The worst kept secret in Chicago is the White Sox are not calling up Luis Robert after the Charlotte Knights season is over. So why are they so sensitive and requiring video to be taken down when Frank Thomas reports it? We examine the odd handling of the situation by the White Sox and how they may be alone in manipulating service time in 2019.

Plus, a look at Dylan Cease’s first 10 starts, and preview White Sox vs. Braves.

I completely disagree that we dont know what it would look like if the sox had 4 consecutive playoff type seasons.

The bears have a season ticket wait list that stretches about 20 years… thats with a title in 85 and a few decent seasons mixed in from an overall mediocre run the last few decades.

The bulls sell out every game, continue to be one of the leagues most profitable and highest valued organizations. Thats all stemming from a dominant 90s run. Since then they have been different parts of mediocre and or flat out terrible.

The blackhawks who may be the best comparison did absolutely everything in there power to spit in their fan bases face. They had the worst ownership in sport, and a terrible product on the ice for long stretches especially after some success in the early/mid 90s (Any of that sound familiar) Yet the second they started winning, and had new ownership, sell outs all over, season ticket wait list, a city obsessed with the team. Still cant find a seat in that stadium for under a bill.

We know about the cubs.. wont detail it.

Concluding we absolutely know for a fact what 4 years of winning/playoff appearance baseball would mean, it would mean near sell out crowds, it would mean tv/radio ratings on par with the cubs just like we saw in 2006, it would mean massive revenue which should be able to support a huge payroll. The sox are too cheap and too incompetent to get there. They want fans to come out in droves before having to invest or before showing a quality product. The best analogy I can come up with top of my head is like a new steakhouse opening up, charging top dollar for grade F meat, then expecting droves of people to come buy said over priced cheap steak on the possible promise of one day buying better grade meat that justifies the price, how long would a steakhouse like that stay in business???

It would mean Rick Hahn was fired prior to those 4 years

Yes, the Hawks are the best comparison. Bill Wirtz tried his best to make the fans miserable, Rocky immediately changed that and the rest is history. Maybe Jerry’s kids will be like Rocky. We can only hope.
