Lately, it seems that outfielders feature prominently in the minds of White Sox fans. From “awaiting the winner of the Bryce Harper sweepstakes” to “will-they-or-won’t-they tender Avisail Garcia a contract?” [No], to “who would be an offensive upgrade in the outfield“, and concluding with a contemplation regarding the future of Leury Garcia [Yes], the offseason thus far has a definite 7-8-9 feel to it.
Today’s Sporcle, then, will revolve around outfielders. Specifically, who’s logged the best (b)WAR while playing the outfield for the White Sox. To make the list, a player needed to have:
- Logged at least 5 WAR in the season
- Qualified for the batting title
- Played at least 70% of their games in an outfield position
That leaves us with 26 player seasons. How many can you name? Good luck!

22/26. Only missed some of the guys from 1920 and 1926.
24/26. Missed
19/26. Everything pre-90s for me is a crapshoot beyond a few notables. Pre-1950 I just never retain the names.
I also had 24/26. Couldn’t get the last two in the last 7 minutes.
I did pretty well. I admit that I only knew
